Hi, I'm descended from Sylvester Keely, and I have a record of his death in 1872 in New York.  Do you have any information on the 1881 record?  I'd like to double check it against my source.  Thanks and happy New Year!

Hi, Lisa!  Iíve been tracing my Keely ancestors for years, and itís a thrill to find this connection to Dublin.  Iím really interested to learn about the contents of the letter from Thomas Roper and the exact relation  to the Guinness family Ė as well as more about the Keely origins in Ireland.

Iíve done some research on Thomas Roper and his mother, Fanny Keely Roper, that Iíd be happy to share.  I **think** that Fanny is the sister of Sylvester and Julia, but I havenít been able to find definitive proof.  (Iíll look a little harder now!)

I look forward to seeing the tree on Geni and would be happy to add any of my own information.

Hi Liam, I live in the US and believe that I am related to this family.  There is a Thomas Roper of Chicago in my tree who is the son of Frances (ďFannyĒ) Keely, born circa 1830 in Ireland.  I am descended from Fannyís brother, Sylvester Keely, who I believe to be the son of James.  Iíve just discovered this thread and am very interested in learning more about my possible connection to this family.  I would love to learn more about some of the letter and documents that you have and would be happy to share any of my own research.

My great-great-great-grandfather was named Sylvester Joseph Keely, and he was born circa 1830 and emigrated to New York City from Dublin in 1849.  I donít know his parentsí names or where he was from in Ireland, but there are a lot of similarities with your family.  For example, he had children named Mary Ann and James, and he was a printer/compositor in NY.  Iíve identified *possible* siblings in the U.S. named James, Mary and Fanny (Frances).  Thank you for posting this information.  There's a good chance this is my family, but Iím going to sort through it more closely to see if I can find a definite link.
