Completed thank you, with special thanks to Suzard and Valda whose hunches proved to be spot on !

Hi again Sue and Valda,
In the absence of any other information and taking into account the significance of the forenames "Sydney Walter" perhaps I should obtain a copy of the Marriage certificate and see what it says. I can hardly image that the forename "Susannah" which is a common family one, would be spelt the way it is in that notice, but let's see what happens. I do thank you both most sincerely for your interest and will let you know what transpires. If you do find anything about the family's arrival in the UK please let me know. Billans

Dear Suz and Valda, Thanks for the trouble you've gone to, but I'm afraid it doesn't throw any additional light on the subject ! The three daughters, my half-sisters, together with their mother Magdalena Elizabeth Ansell (Nee Naude) probably arrived in England from South Africa in 1917 or 1918 and they were living in 19 Sternholt Ave., Streathham by 1918. I know who the other two married: Lilian married Alfred Procter Jackson and Alma married Pryce Owen G Taylor, but beyond the mention of the third who is named Matilda in her father's death notice being married to a Mr Walters I know nothing. Obviously a Marriage Certificate would reveal a lot. The information I provided was from an old Genealogy drawn up by a gentleman who was married to one of their two aunts. my father's sisters. It seems to be inaccurate. Bill

Suz, the date may have been 12th August 1927. Bill

Suz, I should add that she was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1907, so you won't be able to find her in the UK BMD's. Billans

Hi Suz and thanks for your reply.  I have been seeking information about one of my three half-sisters for years and was supplied with this information by a second cousin who lives in NZ (I live in Canada ). As the other information conformed with what I already knew, I took it to be authentic, since it is in accordance with what I would have expected, but I cannot confirm that marriage date. The information on my father's death notice recorded her name as Matilda and I'd heard her referred to as "Mattie" and it did give her married name as Walters but did not mention her husband's first name. Obviously, I'm keen to lay my hands on the Marriage Certificate. Perhaps you're able to see whether a Matilda Ansell married a Walters round about then ? Thanks, Billans

I am seeking information concerning a marriage that took place on 12th July 1927 between Sydney Walters and Susanna Martha Ansell. I'm not too sure, but am assuming it was in London. Any fact would be most welcome, particularly a Register Office reference number.

Hi Bill,
I've just returned from a pleasant break at Waterton National Park. Thank you for the comprehensive info., which I shall have to digest before finding out more about several specific parishes that I'm most interested in.
Again, I'm much obliged to you for the useful input !
Regards,  Bill

Thanks so much, Newbie for the additional information and the website address. I hope you are successful in your LDS  research.
The Winelands are marvellous and Stellenbosch is another favourite.
