The Common Room / Re: Burial record for Rev Fr Edward Mimnagh

Hi Sandymc,

The archivist in Cardiff pulled together a wonderful profile of my Uncles`s life for me, and its actually his question "Do you know where he is buried?" that I`m tried to answer, so obviously they don`t know, which I found strange.

Sometimes I put things on the back burner of my mind and when I come back to them, the answer is there! Certainly I had no idea that I would be able to find out all about this man`s life in just a few emails.

Thank you for your help. I live in the UK.

Julie

Hi Sandymc, thank you so much for your response.

The last place that my Uncle worked was in Hereford, 6 years prior to his death. He was a Catholic priest. Unfortunately he was also an alcoholic. I am so sad that we didn`t know him as he had 6 half-siblings who only knew that he existed, and that he was a priest in South Wales.

I`ve emailed the Catholic church in Stroud, and also the Archdiocese of Paisley, both a few weeks ago. So far no response.

I`m not a Catholic myself, and I wondered if there is a database of Catholic burial places?

I will definitely check the Stroud and Hereford newspapers, and I`m also going to contact each of the parishes where he worked. Its 42 years ago, but someone might remember  ::)

Sandra - thank you very much.
My tree is on Ancestry and I`ve chased every lead I can find, but none link back to Cambria or Philadelphia.
Yes, I have the passenger list for 1887, and I know that James was in Jamestown PA at the time of the flood in 1889, and that he died sometime during WW2.

Shelly - thank you so much for your help. I can check the addresses against the 1900 census.

The Common Room / Burial record for Rev Fr Edward Mimnagh

Hi, I`m looking for the burial site of my Uncle, Reverend Father Edward Mimnagh, who died in Stroud in 1970. He was estranged from the family, but an archivist at the Archdiocese of Cardiff has compiled a profile of his life for me. He was born in Scotland, and spent most of his working life in the valleys of South Wales, so he could be buried anywhere. Any hints would be most welcome. Thanks.

I am looking for any descendants of Joseph Fraser or his son James who emigrated to Philadelphia from Liverpool in 1887. They were born in 1835 and 1862 in Lisburn, Co Antrim, Nothern Ireland, but put "English" as their nationality on their papers. I believe that they may have gone to work at the Cambria Iron Works, and may have lived in Cambria City. Any leads would be welcome. Thanks.
