With REMEMBRANCE DAY  fast approaching, it is hoped we are able to take a minute or two to remember some of the civilians lost
in WW II.

It has been a while since visiting Faces and Places, so from  Weymouth, Dorset, how many names are we able to connect with
such as the Lovell name or the many others that may have walked down Hope Street or took a day trip to Portland.

Edward Phillips, on the "Skylark" in 1881 was my G Grandfather.  Is he connected to your family?   Edward's father was Thomas Phillips & his mother was Elizabeth Jane, "late White , formerly Horne".
His youngest son also joined the RN & was "loaned" to the RAN.  He arrived in Sydney on the First Fleet.  That is the "First Fleet of the RAN"  & never returned to England.  He served with the RAN in both world wars.

Where and when was Edward Phillips born?

HAYE,  SAUNDERS  and SEXTON

Some of the current British boxers in the news include David Haye, Billy Joe Saunders and Ashley Sexton.  It would be interesting hearing about the family trees of
these and the many others through the years such as Randy Turpin, Terry Downes,
Alan Rudkin, Henry Cooper, Liam Cameron, and many more.

Some of the ones from Wales such as Johnny Owen, Jimmy Wilde etc.
