I agree it could be false, but the date wasn't 1st April!

The accounts of a cut throat are a bit specific to be merely invention, although the lack of church attendance as a reason might mean it was something he threatened to do?

Yes, James Cosby was a railway subcontractor from Bedfordshire and lioving with a batch of brickmakers, labourers and miners. That prbably explains it.

But he is the only one I can find. He is also in 1861.

So who committed suicide?

Rector of Great Gonerby 1846-66.

Can anyone explain why he is reported in the papers as having committed suicide in 1860? From his date of death he clearly didn't!

I've only just seen this and did some checking.

In 1851 census, Louisa is in Leighton Buzzard. Joseph is a brickmaker in Middlesex. He came from Leighton Buzzard.

I'd assume they both ended up in Great Gonerby in connection with the building of the Peascliffe Tunnel, which needed bricks. theer were huge numbers of brickmakers in Gonerby in 1851.

I'm looking for any information on a Henry Lawson Walker born Australia - I believe South, likely Adelaide about 1858-9. He is recorded in Scottish 1881 census as aged 22.
I believe his father was John Cunningham Walker and mother Ellen Walker - I know there was an Ellen Lawson Walker born Adelaide 1871.
Any help gratefully received.

Martin
