DNA has helped me confirm some suspicions I had as well as break down a couple of brickwalls. Before I took the test I wasn't that interested in the DNA side of things, but afterwards I became quite fascinated with it.
I'm definitely more focused on the matches than the ethnicity updates, but it is still interesting to see how that side of it develops over time.

If you're looking for an unknown great-grandfather, taking an Ancestry DNA will give you a very good chance of at least getting closer to finding out his identity. I recommend it 100%.

It can be useful for people with ancestors from different regions/countries. I like the fact that I can filter my match list to see people who also have the ancestral journey 'Belgium'.
But for people with overlapping or neighbouring journeys it might not be of much use.

« on: Sunday 23 February 25 17:19 GMT (UK) »Elizabeth O'H... might be O'Hare. That's my first guess from the image and knowledge of the parish. My grandfather's family was from that parish and I've looked at a few other families from there also.
Thanks! I've seen what definitely looks like O'Hare in some of their children's baptismal records.

A glance at the full register-page shows that 20 is the day (20 October).
I think the second witness is Cillan [or Cillian?] Caulfield.

I stumbled upon this couple, who later moved to Liverpool, as my ancestor made the same journey from Kilbroney parish to Liverpool and had the same job (stone mason) and surname as Roger!

Hey everyone
I found a marriage record in Kilbroney parish, County Down, Ireland on 22nd October 1822. It's written in English and states that Roger Caulfield was married to Elizabeth O'H... in presence of Peter Caulfield and (? ?).
Written in the margin is an extra note in Latin which I can't make out.
Could anybody help me with this?
Could it possibly refer to the fact that the couple had had many children before getting married?

The one minor change I keep suggesting to them is on the main list page of all matches, just to show the number of shared matches I have with each. That way I can tell straight away that if they have no matches and no tree I can give them a coloured dot for 'no tree no matches' and just move on.
That's such a good idea
