Best thing is to register on the web page then I'll put your email address on my mail list. I have several back issues that will help. Perhaps you could post on the Washbourn thread & say how far back you have researched.

I know where all the money came from for the farms etc. It a developing story too! ::)

I have an extensive tree of the Yatesbury Washbourns, how they are connected with other yeoman families in Yatesbury, like Long, and Caswell.  Wills showing large inheritances etc.  All good stuff.

My 6th gt grandmother was Elizabeth Flower who married John Caswell 13 Apr 1686 Cherhill. I'm pretty sure her parents were Robert Flower and Jane Snowswell.  Born 10 Jun 1666 Ogbourne St George.  Robert was born 7 May 1641 Chippenham, which I think makes him from the Corsham line.
Rumors were that the Cherhill line was very musical, and the Corsham line had musicians who played for The King.

Some years ago, I downloaded ALL the Wiltshire Flower family entries from the LDS IGI, and I merged them into my Caswell file, which has 101,000+ names.  This is a working file, so there are lots of loose ends, and as the IGI could have several entries for a couple, one entry for each child, It makes it difficult at times.  Here is the file https://moonrakers.com/Caswell.ged.zip

I have many other family name downloads from the IGI, and if you want a copy, just ask (PM) me.  If anyone has a comprehensive Flower gedcom please let me know. I'd love to add it to my files.  Ultimately, I'm interested in seeing how my Elizabeth fits into the Abe Lincoln line. My American neighbors will treat me like royalty!  :-)

Robert Caswell of Yatesbury

To John Washbourne of Yatesbury, William Brown of Broad Hinton and Thomas
Chandler of Heytesbury my freehold manor and reported ****,messuages , farm,
lands, etc in Rodbourne Cheney, Wilts to hold etc for the use for life of my neice Ann the wife of Francis Stephen Long of Boreham. Upon trust and after her decease to the use of Robert Caswell Long second son of my said neice. To trustees further 6000 pounds interest of which for the use of Susannah, wife of George John Bannister of Warminster, banker, another neice and aftds for her second son.residue for children of two neices.

Signed 19 May 1819
Proved PCC 22 Oct 1820

Record found in the Everett Papers (Wills 1) Devizes Museum.

Inside the Yatesbury church on a plaque made by Harrisons of Devizes , under the bell tower:-
'To the memory of Robert Caswell, who died 18th June 1819 aged 55 years - by his nieces Anne LONG and Susanna BANNISTER".
At this time 30 pounds per annum was a good allowance for a gentleman , so 6000 pounds would be worth approx 300,000 pounds in 1996. A very tidy sum!

That is the CASWALL line. Completely different to the Wiltshire Caswell line. Not related - been there - done that.
