London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Huguenot family HAUTOT

Sorry Dave,
I did a mistake by writing that the emigration of some children of HAUTOT family happened after thé death of their father. In consulting my family tree, I have noticed that the first mariage in London was few years before the death of the father.
So your ancestor arrived in England when he was less than 10 years.

I am not descended from Jean François Amand Hautot but from his sister Catherine who married Louis Bantigny.
They were coming from Notre-Dame-du-Bec in Normandy and arrived in London after their father Jean died. At their arrival your ancestor was about 14 years old.
You can find my family tree on internet site geneanet.org where the access is free if you register.
I will send you more details in a few days, presently I am on trip in France.
I was very happy for this contact by another HAUTOT family member. Do not hesitate to renew contact for further information from my part and your part.
Nice Christmas.

Hello Jenny. I have just sent an invitation on Facebook.
I am still interested in the story of a labourer meeting a duchess. Which information at your disposal could you supply?
Have a good time in Melbourne,
Your cousin Stéphan

Dear J. HAUTOT,
I am descended from Catherine HAUTOT who married Louis BANTIGNY on 10 June 1764 in London. I made the assumption that Catherine was the sister of Jean Francois Amand HAUTOT, based upon several elements, for example :
1/ the composition of the family of Jean HAUTOT and Adrianne Susanne DUMONT married on October 21st 1726 in Notre-Dame-du-Bec in Normandy, the DUMONT family was Huguenot;
2/ On January 28th 1768 in London, Jean Francois Amand HAUTOT was the godfather of my ancestor Marie BANTIGNY, one of the daughters of Catherine HAUTOT and Louis BANTIGNY.
All of my genealogical resarches are available on the website Geneanet, where I mentioned all my sources. You may easily access to these data through a free registration.
If you have a different possible origin for Jean  Francois Amand HAUTOT, i am interested in it.
Thank you for your message and have a good New Year,

Stephen

Ireland / Re: Robert FAHY from Dowery or Dowry
« on: Wednesday 23 September 20 15:58 BST (UK)  »
Many thanks for your reply. Firstly, I thought that Londonderry or Derry did not match very well with Doerie but after discovering that the gaelic name is 'Doiry" and listening to the pronunciation of Derry, your proposal seems quite acceptable. Does it exist a list of Irish emigrants around 1640?

Best regards,

Stephen

Ireland / Robert FAHY from Dowery or Dowry
« on: Sunday 20 September 20 14:36 BST (UK)  »
One of my ancestors is Robert FAHY who married in Dunkirk (now In France) in February 1643. It's written that he came from Doery, which may correspond to "Dowery" or "Dowry". Did a parish or a place exist in Ireland at this time? Robert FAHY emigrated in Flanders probably around 1640. Does a list of emigrants exist anywhere? In 1643, Dunkirk was not yet French. The city was a Spanish possesion.

Thank you Bookbox for your reply and for bringing me the proof that they are 2 different personnes.

No, according to the French habit at this time, at the burial like in other religious occasions, a woman kept her maiden name.

How old was she at her burial and who were attending it? Was she the same personne as Suzanne DUMONT born on April 12th, 1706 at Octeville-sur-Mer (department of Seine-Maritime in France) and married with Jean HAUTOT at Notre-Dame-du-Bec on October 21st, 1726? This Suzanne DUMONT was from a French protestant family and was Jean Francois  (John Francis) Amand HAUTOT's mother. This last one married Mary Ann Elizabeth COTTREL at St-Matthew in Bethnal Green on April 28th, 1774? Thank you for your help.
