Looks like it was a normal residence as on the Electoral Rolls Mary & Maurice Reed lived there up to 1928. Then Robert, Catherine & Elizabeth Bellion lived there 1932.

Very sad news indeed, but at least he got to spend his last days at home with the Queen after his long stay in hospital.

Thanks for your suggestions Girl Guide but everything is working Ok this morning. I had tried several names, areas & dates, but the same message kept coming up telling me the page couldn't be found. I guess it was just one of those annoying things that happen now & again.

Married men were exempt from conscription until June 1916. Richards brother Walter died July 1916 then James September 1916 serving their country then his son James was born October 1916. He could have applied for exemption from conscription on these grounds to his local military services tribunal. Another reason he wasn't conscripted is he could have been in a reserved occupation or only able to do light work such as Heywood mentions as a clerk.
As for the trips to Ireland three of Richards Grandparents originated for Ireland so perhaps he was visiting family.

The very same thing happened to me last week & I kept getting messages to say the person had not received the invite after 3 times using their username I tried the e-mail & it worked straight away. I was really embarrassed by this & thought it was my fault.
