There is a famous picture by Goya, which has been re-posed many times, all the way up to the 70s.

The Common Room / Picture Restoration?
« on: Wednesday 21 July 21 15:44 BST (UK)  »
Hello All,

I though that there was separate section for photo restoration, but I don't seem to be able to find it.

I have a image of Dunrobin Castle that has a few unwanted artefacts in it. It will be used as the basis for a paint-by-numbers painting. The way it is done, everything that is in the image ends up on the canvas.

Can somebody point me in the right direction, or can a mod move this post, please.

Thank you

Regards

The Common Room / Re: Are you a Genealogist or Family Historian?
« on: Saturday 17 July 21 23:41 BST (UK)  »
I think most of us here would say that we are both.

Back when I started all of this I did a five week course at the local library. The tutor there said that genealogy was the "nuts and bolts" of how we all fitted together with births, marriages and deaths, whilst "family history" looked at the wider picture of the lives of our forebears. How and where they lived, loved and died and the events in the world they lived in.

Tony.

I agree, Tony. I think that the genealogy is just the box that the life was in. I like finding the minutiae of a person's life. All the unconsidered trifles that go to make up a person.

Is it the same ship in a bottle that was on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square?

I wanted to find his military service but have no idea what he was in.
Sad that he isn't remembered less than 50 years after his death

If you have his full name, his date of birth and 30, you can apply for his service records.

The Stay Safe Board / Re: Matt Hancock Has Resigned

For what it is worth, I agree with Nick_Ips.  We know NOTHING of their relationship (if there is one).

What we do know is that a photograph was taken illegally; it was sold to a newspaper illegally; bought illegally; and published illegally. Everything else is supposition.

If you have the vaccine app on your phone do you have to be  using mobile data to show it in airports to prove you have had both jabs.
A good alternative would be a form you could download and save.
Does anyone know about this.

What is the name / title of the vaccine app, please?

Chas
