Clare / Margaret Flynn or Flinn
« on: Monday 27 November 23 07:20 GMT (UK)  »
I have attached the birth certificate of my grandfather William Laing. On it you will see his mother's name Margaret Flinn born in County Clare. I'm hoping someone might be able to decipher the town.
As an aside on other documents her birthplace is given as Limerick (no town) and her name is spelt Flynn.
As she was obviously alive when the birth cert was written I'm assuming it might be the more accurate but as you will see by the handwriting the details were presumably written by the registrar.
Any advice or assistance will be very welcome

Surrey / Re: George SEFTON and Jane Elizabeth WEBB

Thank you Debra and Annette
i think I'll start again as I've been trying to work on this family for a friend who doesn't use a computer at all but he has just shown me some more original documents which may clarify some points.

William Thomas SEFTON was born in 1862 in Victoria and on his birth certificate his father is George SEFTON born in Surrey. William Thomas SEFTON then married in 1884 and on his marriage certificate his father is George SEFTON born in (Farnsworth??) London.
George SEFTON came to Australia and married in 1858. From his age at marriage he was born in 1825 in Surrey/London. On his marriage certificate his father is George SEFTON (no middle names for either) occupation engineer and mother Jane Elizabeth WEBB.
I have not been able to locate the younger George before he turns up in Australia or his his parents George and Jane in England
Again any advice will be welcomed
John

Surrey / George SEFTON and Jane Elizabeth WEBB

Looking for George Sefton and wife Jane Elizabeth Webb who according to the marriage certificate of their son George SEFTON were from Surrey. The son was born in 1825 based on his age at marriage in Australia.
I have had no luck finding any records of these events and appreciate any assistance.
Thank you

Thank you Rosie99 and KGarrard.
The original information I have is a photocopied page from a physical book in the LDS library in Salt Lake City headed "Extracts from the Stamford Union workhouse Minutes PL15/102/2 1838-1841"
I foolishly didn't record the reference numbers and I can't seem to find it in their digital library so I'm guessing it still hasn't been digitized.

Thank you for your suggestion to contact the Lincolnshire FHS. I will do that when life returns to normal!
Thank you both

I've not been able to find them on either the 1841 or 1851 census - they are a mystery.
