Many thanks for all your responses, Flight Sargent Fisher may be him, anyone related to him out there?  Unfortunately, my uncle has now passed, but his son is still interested to know more if possible.  NS is still a bit of a mystery....
I have a photo of my uncle in para training with others, if any suspect it might have an image of their relative, please PM me....the photo would date from 1944, pre Market Garden.

Hi,
I'd be interested if anyone has links or info on
William DALGARNO and Lizzie GREIG (b.Drumblade 1889), who married in Ellon in 1926.  As there were so many Dalgarno in Aberdeenshire, I cannot pin down his parents. I know about the Greigs, anyone with interest in Greigs of Rothiemay/Drumblade are welcome to PM me.

Can anyone help me find his birth and parents?
He was a handloom weaver by trade. He married Elizabeth GRUBB in Dundee in 1829, where the register gives his name as Alexander CULBERT.  On the census he and his family are noted as CUTHBERT.  He was living in Bellfield Lane in 1841 and Bernard Street in 1851. He died in 1879.  I have seen the family headstone (Balgry Cemetery), but it gives no indication of where he was born or his parents names. I have some info on his children,  so anyone with connections is welcome to send me a PM.

Aberdeenshire / Re: SLESSOR

I am currently researching Greigs of Cruden, Aberdeenshire;  John Greig married Mary Slessor Old Deer 1817, she died Cruden 1879 and was the daughter of  Joseph Slessor and Jannet Black of Old Deer. I believe Joseph's parents Wm Slessor and Margaret Rob.  Interested in anyone with connections to Greigs or Slessors.

Hi,

If you have James'death certificate; doesn't it give his age at death in 1856?  In which case, you can work out his rough birthdate, which should help narrow things down....

Hi gene-genie l do believe we are distant relations!! I think it is interesting to see that on John & Selina's marriage cert it is witnessed by Mary Grant there must have been a family connection long before Their great granddaughter Grace married Frederick Grant?  See my previous post for my family connection. I want to discover more!!!!

Hi,
Welcome to rootschat!  Always nice to find a distant relative!  I sent you a PM, but this is for others who might have connection to the same line:

I think this line of  Ridley's of Bethnal Green are descended from William RIDLEY born 1761 in Stepney. He was baptised St Dunstan's Stepney 22nd March 1761, most likely the son of John Ridley  (noted as a soldier) and his wife Mary. (no surname as yet)
On Oct 25 1789, St Dunstan's, Stepney  William RIDLEY married Mary WILLIAMSON b. Jan 3 1770 in Stepney, the daughter of John WILLIAMSON b 28 Nov 1747 Cannon Street and his wife Ann HOLLOLEE who had married at St Dunstans on May 31 1761  - they had 6 children, of whom Mary is the fifth.
