Monmouthshire / Re: Waingoch (Waungoch?) Row, Beaufort (?) Bedwelty 1891 census

Hello,

I have ancestors that lived at 40 Waungoch District (not Row), Beaufort.  I have them on the 1891 census RG12/4575 page 23, maybe if you can find that you can work backwards to No.14 to see if your George or Beatrice is there, can't search for it myself as I haven't a current subscription. Sorry.
Hope this helps.

They are probably buried at St. James, Shardlow.  They both have Cavendish Bridge as their place of abode on their burial notices (Ancestry)

Thank you so much for the link Leigh. Found one of my 'naughty' ancestors and her children. Just brightened up a cold and snowy afternoon!  :)

Kind regards

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: May Phillips - Tutbury
« on: Wednesday 11 September 13 16:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Just checked the Tutbury records and found:

Richard, Rosehannah, Rebecca and May Perrins all baptised on 20 July 1873 - private baptism, children of Henry and Rosehannah.  Also a son Frederick bap. 9 August 1872 - parents given as Henry and Arina?

No May Phillips.

Not sure if this is helpful or not

Kind regards
Olwen

Hi John,

When I started looking for my Toogoods I thought it would be a lot easier than looking for my Jones family, how wrong can you be!

I found the Hanbury Thomas marrying Susanna Stafford in August 1742. Then the bap. of William 11 December 1742.  Strange thing is on the Tutbury records there is a William born to Thomas and Susannah who was baptised on 20 December 1742 - I wonder if they are the same family. No other record for them or other children in Tutbury.  But I see they were back in Hanbury for the birth of Thomas in 1745.

Found a few Jacobus and Jacobi round Tatenhill but the dates are too early to connect with....yet.

Hi John and Heather

Found Jacob's death, July 1832, I wondered where the 1753 came from - now I know! So I suppose he could squeeze in between Thomas and Mary, but why can't I find his baptism?

Re the Apprenticeship for Jacob, the timeline would be about right, I have no idea of his profession. Joseph Toogood (possible father) was shown as a Cordwainer. His son Thomas was apprenticed to Daniel Jackson a cordwainer of Bedworth, Warwicks in 1762.  So maybe the family came from around that area originally.

You've given me plenty to go at John, especially Elizabeth's birth and the marriage in Kingsley, looks like I need a few rainy days to keep me out of the garden as an excuse to keep digging inside!

Thanks for the link,  I had seen some of it but not all.  I shall have a good look through and see if I can come up with any probables for Jacob.

Kind regards

Hello John,

Oh heck!  Well it's nice to know I'm not alone in my struggle to find Jacob.  It's his son Jacob (1782) that's my 4 x g grandfather. It was because Jacob's and Sarah's children were born around Hilton and Marston that I wondered if that's where he came from.  I live in that area so will keep searching - you never know!

Kind regards
Olwen
