Thanks for your help, Peter. Sorry we couldn't come up with anything definite or possibilities I could look into. I appreciate the time you spent.

Thanks for your response. I'm not too sure how to go about purchasing the appropriate marriage certificate: being in Quebec and credit-cardless and all that!

I would be interested to hear of the possibilities you may have found in the census records.

James and Sarah Peers' children (that they had together) were John, Joseph amd Mary Ann. I don't know if they were family names or not.

Sorry at the moment I'm not much help with the lack of information I have, but I do appreciate the help you are giving me!

Thanks for your reply. The 1851 Census has him living (as yet unmarried) with Sarah Fletcher formerly Wharmby (and her 3 children) at Cheadle Moseley. They were married that same year. The writing on James Peers' census record for his place of origin appears to be either Wilmslow or Winsford. I've spent hours trying to decipher it! His age is given as 26 - which means born around 1825. The mathematical deduction of his age from his death date implies that he was born around 1829 - aged 86 in 1915. One thing is for sure however: it is the same person! I've no idea at all of his parents or siblings. Thanks

I'm searching for gg-grandfather James PEERS - born in either Wilmslow or Winsford, Cheshire, around 1829. (Hard to read records sorry!)  He married Sarah FLETCHER formerly WHARMBY in Heaton Norris in 1851. In 1856 they sailed to New Zealand. It's pre-1851 information I'm seeking.

I wondered if someone could see if he's in the 1841 census?

I'd be tickled pink if someone could help.

Thanks
