Hi SASSIH,
My Mother is connected by DNA to Helen Barr.  Quite closely.  Possibly 1/2 sibling relationship.
Contact me if you would like to compare research.

Cheshire / Re: William McLure Murray & Annie Meaden - help needed!
« on: Wednesday 01 June 22 00:38 BST (UK)  »
Just an update on this couple.  Annie Meaden did not marry William McLure Murray.  Her husband was actually William MCLEAN Murray.  Unfortunately, a lot of researchers also got this couple wrong, and a few of them have yet to change their research in their online trees.  both Williams lived in Merseyside, so there has been confusion between these 2 men in the past.

William McLean Murray was born on March 25, 1906, the son of Maria and Alexander. He married Annie Meaden on April 12, 1929, in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. They had seven children in 15 years. He died in September 1984 at the age of 78.  Annie Meaden was born on October 22, 1909

Inverness / Re: McLure - Sleat, Skye

Hi Adam,
I have checked through all my records and unfortunately I don't have anything on your Angus McDonald and family.

The parish registers are not available for the time period.  Sleat registers start in 1813, which is a big brick wall to researching prior to that.

The only way I have been able to go further back is by getting death certificates of people born before 1813 and who died after the start of civil registration in 1855.  This at least provides parents names from the death certificate.  Not much... but better than nothing.

But your family is in Canada by that point!

Have you contacted the Sleat local history society?  They may have some tips.

The only other idea I have is investigating the DNA matches who have McDonalds on Skye to see if you can put together any family relationships that way?  A long shot, but sometimes sideways research pays off.

Ayrshire / Re: Leiper family in Aucheneross,New Cumnock

I have recently been introduced to the Leiper family in my own research.

I am interested in Catherine/Katrin Leiper who married
1/ James Torrance 30 October 1712, Lesmahagow.
2/ John Watson 19 September 1733, Lesmahagow. Farmer at Langkype

I descend from her Son John Torrance, Deadwaters Farm that married
1/ Marion Hamilton
2/ Jean Fram/Frame in 1766 Lesmahagow.

The Leiper, Hamilton, Torrance, & Semple families are very challenging to keep straight! There are so many of them.  But if any of you has come across Katrin Leiper I would appreciate your input.

yes, too bad the image is not online.   The informant does not appear to be a family member.  Am I right in thinking that Irish DC's do not contain the names of the parents of the deceased?

Oh!  rathmore, thank you so much for that.  I have looked on the Donegal resources area of the website, and I still can't find the link to that set of deaths.  Is there a special section that I am overlooking?  ???
