Hi Sandie, Nope I haven't asked the parish council - yet - I will e-mail them soon. I did have a look at EFHS and they have not transcribed that graveyard :(

Hi Rosie,

You are correct, Samuel's burial does not show a middle name. His middle name was shown on the baptism record of his son Robert in 1740 Mistley, Essex. Robert's ordination papers referenced this baptism which is how got back to Mistley. I don't believe Samuel and Hannah married in Mistley or Samuel was born there though. For further information i have written a biography at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dyer-14449

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: John Garbutt

Very well done getting so far back, as you have said you have probably reached the final brick wall with this line. But... have you rang/e-mailed North Yorkshire archives, to ask if they hold the Manoral records for Bilsdale and what language they are in, can they be viewed? or even checked or if the national archives might have them. Also might be worth seeing if there are any diary's remaining in the archives belonging to the lords of the manor. Happy searching and good luck

Essex Lookup Requests / St Mary's Cemetry, Mistley, Essex query
« on: Wednesday 13 October 21 19:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

Thank you for reading my query.

Do you know if any old headstones from the 1700's still exist (and are readable) at St Mary's in Mistley?
Do you know if these headstones have been transcribed anywhere?
          - Billion graves has 13 headstones relating to military people but not the full graveyard done.
          - findagrave dont have them :(

I think my 4x great grandparents were buried there, Hannah Dyer buried 1765 and Samuel Francis Dyer buried in 1771. There are not a lot of sources for this couple back then; so exploring the long shot possibility that a gravestone might give any further information.

Thank you for reading

Best wishes

Paula

Suffolk Lookup Requests / marriage lookup at archives request
« on: Tuesday 15 June 21 17:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, thank you for reading my post.

I have unfortunately misplaced a photocopy of a marriage register entry, that I now very much need. As I want to compare the groom's signature (this us his second marriage) to what I believe is his first marriage. None of the online transcriptions show the original image unfortunately :(

The marriage is question is Robert Dyer and Peggy Sherman in Ufford, Suffolk in 1773.

Thank you kindly for reading this post and to the kind soul willing to help on this request.

Best wishes and stay safe

Paula

Thank you again John. I had a look again at the pay per view park of the website and if I am right it looks like this document can only be viewed in Essex in the searchroom. Thank you kindly getting the allegation has been amazing
