Hi there. Anyone know of ways to find WW1 medals - apart from trolling through pages of ebay etc?

Many thanks for all this. I am going to check against my family tree and go from there.

Many thanks to those who have replied. I wonder whether I should be looking at licensees in the earlier part of the 19th century

The illegitimate bit is a 'story' in our family so could be so. I haven't been able to prove or disprove it

As far as I know, William had 15 children, of which Elizabeth (Betty)  was the oldest born in 1831. What else do you need to know that I can help with?

Does anyone know anything about the history of this pub, please? I believe my forebears,(Horne) may have been licensees.

Hi there Terry,

I also have an ancestor who is a carver and gilder. My understanding is that he would be an applier of gold leaf to his carving. Literally 'what it says on the tin'. I looked it up on the Hull Genealogy Site which is good for translating old occupation names.
