Hi Marleen
Thanks for getting back to me. My grandfather was George Henry Vickerman and my mother was Dorothy Mildred Vickerman.  As I said before, all of the other Vickerman siblings and mother gradually went to Australia.  Are you in the U.K.?

Hi, I have just discovered this threat and found it a bit odd to be reading about my family. My mother was a Vickerman and Ann Vickerman was my gt grandmother, my grandfather was her only child who didn't go to Australia.

Thanks to both of you.  As there were two Charles Priebe from Michigan born around the same year, I was having difficulty narrowing down which was the correct person.  Between you, you have helped us immensely. I will spend some time printing all this information out for Charles grandson.

Thanks for your great help, Sandra.  You have helped us enormously.  I did have to the marriage certificate but I passed it on to his family here without writing down the details , foolish I know.
I will be able to look at the census records now that I have more information.
Charles did return to the States and tried three times to get his wife and son to join him

Hi, I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me search for information on Charles W Priebe.  According to his WW2 army enlistment he was born in 1911 in Michigan.  I believe that he spent the war in England, whilst there he married Margaret Fisher and they had a son.
His grandson has asked me to help him discover more about Charles but I am struggling a bit.  I have his army number but not his social security number so I believe that we can't apply for his war records.  I have looked up the US census, but I can't pinpoint which Charles Priebe is him.  Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
Thanks for any help.

Hi.  The school was set up by the Presentation Brothers and was looked after by the Southwark Diocese.  I have checked back to my correspondence with the Catholic Children's Society and they told me that the log books still exist.  My father was sent to Canada by the school as a child migrant and only note cards now remain of his records and that tells me very little.  He was sent to the school by the court system and those records do not exist either.
