I found his mother on the 21 census who by this time has remarried (Northern) living with her mother (Mary Osborne) with Arthurs younger brother and sister, who interestingly have Osborne as their surname, not Beckett.

I checked on the census for Arthur W, he is living with his parents Arthur and Lilian on the 1921 census, my Arthur's parents are Elizabeth (Osborne) and Henry/Harry.

Hi

I've been researching my husbands tree.  His grandfather Arthur Beckett was born in 1904 in Leicester.  I've found him on the 1911 census (with his mother's maiden name as surname), and on the 39 register.

I can't find him on the 1921 census but have found an Arthur Beckett but his birth year is 1901.  His address is York House, Wigston Magna, in the Army Infantry.  The census page has other soldiers on.  2 questions really, could he have lied about his age to get in the army and does anyone know what this York House was.  I'm probably barking up the wrong tree but any advice or info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Elaine

Yes it was, they are really interesting.  Whitehaven seems too far from High Hesketh, but you never know!!

Thanks Louisa, I found a John Palmer living with his grandparents who was born in High Hesketh but nothing after that then found another one aged 4 also living with his grandparents, a John Palmer who was a farmer but in Egremont, but when i've checked the gro website, can't find any other births.  Might have a rest on this one for a bit, sometimes I can look too much, if you get what I mean?  They make it look real easy on TV!!!

Thanks for your help

Elaine

Don't think it's him, I clicked on the son and clicked on a suggestion, it's come up with John Palmer in 1881 in Liverpool but married to Ann Palmer born in Dalston. My John Palmer is married to Ellen Blair.
