I have all McSorley burials in one single family grave in Killyclogher, Cappagh Parish. This is more likely to be Jane as there is no John buried here.

Joannum ?

With ref. to the McSorley family, they had a daughter Jane but certainly no John (if this helps?)

Can anyone interpret this record in the Birth records for a McSorley child dated 2nd Jan 1842

Jane or John

The earlier book 1828 - 1832 only has these.....

Don't have time to check earlier or later!

Have you a link to these records, I can look?

Leitrim / Curneen Originated in Dromahair

Local knowledge suggests that the Curneens of Glenade originated in Dromahair and over time moved into Glenade. I have no evidence of this and there is little to support the claim other than older Curneens suggesting this. Where would you start to look for clues?

Did Michael move from Keelogues to Aughamore, Glenade?

The answer is no, Michael emigrated to California where he lived, married and had five children. I found him. I also have contacted several people who have family trees on Ancestry!

Thanks to all who helped in my search. I found the answer in an Irish Newspaper Archive from 1956. His daughter visited Ireland and this was reported in the local press.

Since I started searching I have felt that I have always been guided by 'someone', this is another example.

Thanks all.

Have you checked to see who owned the townlands in 1700's to see if any leases were registered to them?

Yes, I have just checked.
There is a Michael Curneen in each of the town lands that I am aware of Keeloges, Carrownoona and Aughamore. I presume this means three different Michael Curneens?

They probably are...with them still well tended there are probably descendants around keeping the graves etc.

Yes, there are and I have spoken to them but none of them know the connection
