I ordered a will and a death certificate at the end of June. It took about ten days for the will to arrive but still no sign of the certificate.

I don't think they are the same people at all. None of the faces match up .

Definitely. Or at least E. European.
But Charles stated that Johann was German, and if he (Charles) is looking for living relatives, they might well be outside of Germany (and Poland) and may well have altered the spelling of the name.

I'm not good at social media stuff  :) but I had a quick look on Facebook and I can only find one person in Poland with this exact spelling. Maybe I'm doing it wrong!  ;D

If it is Polish or East Europen it is most likely a shortened version  ;D
Is it possible that he was Prussian ?
