New Zealand / Benjamin Mary and Susan Boyle.

Benjamin Boyle 21 married Mary Ann Wilson 20  on the 11th November 1874 at Bailieborough parish church Cavan. They were both from Galboly. Fathers William and Hugh.

Their daughter Susan was born 21st May 1875.

I can find a record of them emigrating to N Z. Left 25 May 1875 arrived 24 Aug 1875  Auckland on ship Dover Castle .

Can any information be found after them arriving in Auckland. With Susan being a new born baby I wondered how they got on.

I did find details of a marriage for a Susan Boyle I think to Wilfred Owens but I have misplaced my notes and am struggling to locate it on the
family search website. I was not sure if it was her.

Thank you

In the 1901 Census we have two ancestors residing at the above college.
We are curious as to why they were sent there. What kind of school was it?

Samuel Smith 14 and Joseph Smith 12 from Tullynaskeagh nr Bailieborough Cavan.
Samuel died in WW1 and Joe emigrated to Australia.
Thank you

That's food for thought. Mary Ann certainly kept busy!
Could the McLean name refer to a possible father?
In those days would a child have been taken off a mother if it was felt that they were not being looked after?

Still struggling to find any other appropriate birth record for Joyce

I was thinking along the same lines regarding her name.
Am trawling through English records at moment.

However there is a Joy Burdett age 4 in the 1901 Roscommon Ireland census. Parents both English.
I know the age is wrong .
Having trouble finding that family in 1911 census.

I have found a death record for a  Joyce Burdett on 29th January 1926 age 14  and a half. From Lisball  farmers child. She died from TB and the informant was an Annie Waller guardian of the above.

Information on irishgenealogyie

I know who Annie Waller nee Thompson is but don't know anything about Joyce.

As I have not come across this before would Annie have had to complete paperwork for this arrangement or could it have been a mutual agreement between families?
Might she have been paid for this or money given for Joyce's upkeep?

At the moment struggling to locate a birth for Joyce. Still looking.

Thank you
