Hello

This is my great grandmother Kate Dugay - died 1935.

Can it be sharpened and the top right corner set to be the same as the rest of the background?

Thanks

Martin

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Two signatures for comparison

It's definitely not a transcription - there are two other signatures in different handwriting.

Can a person's handwriting change that much from aged early 20s to early 60s?

My problem is that I can't find any other marriage between a Thomas Hancock and a Martha. And the date of the marriage fits conveniently with the birth of the first child just over a year later.

Thanks

Martin

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Two signatures for comparison

Hello

Two signatures this time for comparison, forty years apart. Martha Perrin married a Thomas Hancock on 4 Jun 1787 in North Nibley, Gloucestershire. Her signature in the register in the top one.

A Thomas Hancock died in 1827 - his wife applied for a Letter of Administration. Her signature is the lower one.

We can only compare on the word Martha - even though the two examples of writing are 40 years apart they seem to be quite different to me. Which suggests that the marriage of Martha Perrin is to a different Thomas Hancock.

Any thoughts?

Hello

These 3 signatures are all by George Hancock in Gloucestershire - but are they all the same person?

The top one is a witness at Sarah Hancock's wedding 19 Aug 1817. She has a brother George age 24.

The middle one is his own wedding 2 Feb 1818.

The third is his father's Letter of Administration 27 Dec 1827 - age 34.

Thanks

I would say there's enough doubt for it to be unsafe to conclude it's the same person.

Ah I see what you mean. In charts FTM doesn't make the distinction between married and unmarried partners, even though the relationship is recorded correctly. In both cases they are joined with a double line as you say.

You've been wrongly informed. First of all it doesn't matter what a partner's relationship is, of course you can show all their descendants. Secondly FTM has a function to let you identify the type of relationship between two people, spouses, partners, etc.

As far as I know there is no easy way to achieve what you describe. Other than as you say using family tree software on a computer.

Is it time to buy your new computer?
