Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Campsall - Location of Burial
« on: Saturday 11 May 13 15:08 BST (UK)  »
Hello Julie,    I'm not sure where anything is in Rootschat any more so bear with me if you've had a reply already.   All  can suggest is try the Municipal Cemetary in Cantley  near Doncaster.   I'm not sure if burials from Campsall went there or not but it may help.   They did burials from areas outside Doncaster.

Happy hunting,

Ray.

Thanks for that input, I'll add it to the relative files I have, the more you know the less there is to know.

Thanks again,

Ray

Thank you pels, I'll mull these over and see what I think.   Ann Fisher Tyas I have in a file of 'unknowns' so you've added a new fact to her story, thanks.   I've switched my brain to another family temporarily but I'll jump back to this when I've sorted the other out.  I never thought to look at deaths!   ???   I have 15 Tyas trees on the go so it takes some keeping up with.

Thanks again for the trouble,

Ray

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Family Tyas in Doncaster Workhouse!
« on: Wednesday 12 September 12 11:59 BST (UK)  »
Hello Rootschatters,   In the '51 census I have found a trio of children in the Union Workhouse, Doncaster, surname Tyas,  Elizabeth 11,  Richard 9 and John 6, all born Conisbrough.   I then found a child Elizabeth in the '41 census who matched, with her parents Jonathan and Ann in Bawtry, Doncaster.  The problem is, this family, I'm assuming they're all one family, don't appear in any census after those 2!   Where did they go?   Emigrated or what?

A puzzle, my wife's family name is Tyas with some connection to Conisbrough so hence the interest   I also have 12 or 13 other Tyas family trees on the go but they don't appear so far in any of them.

Hello Heywood and Mirf,

I owe you both an apology!  ;D   I gave you duff details. ;D   Instead of using a calculator I did some maths in my aging grey head and got it wrong. ???   I kept feeding in Henry's birthdate as 1841 and it was 1851!   Shame on me, I never thought I'd get a simple sum wrong.    In mitigation I did find him in Ancestry in 1911!   Unbelievable, I thought 1911 was a no go.

Thank you both once again, ::)

My apologies to both of you, time of year with cold and a 'puta' problem has slowed me down but I'll begin following up on your suggestions later.

Thank you both for the help,

Rossolad.

Sorry Heywood,   I didn't get that last post you sent?    Was it a clue?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Ancestry!

Hello again Haywood,   I'd like a copy of the record for my file but I can't get Ancestry to find it even using Fosler.   I've tried the help section to find records by RG no, Sheet and folio but the help section might as well be in Greek for all the help it gave me, clear as mud!

Thanks for that Haywood!     I may have lead you astray in my original post.   I only had the family in 1891 and since I couldn't find them in 1901 (Thanks to you for finding the spelling mistake in Foster) I assumed the head of the family, William Francis, had died.   The 'Fosler' tip has them plain to see in Printing Office Street which I've walked down many hundreds of times.

Thanks again, that'll teach me to think a bit harder before asking.
