I contacted the Canadian Red Cross to see if they could help you.   They suggested  you contact the archives of the International Committee of the Red Cross.  They have archives.
Here is there website

Hope this helps.

Please don't forget the Canadian participation from Newfoundland.  Newfoundland sent the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and was the only unit from North America.

Found on line for York's Museums Trust
http://www.yorkmuseumstrust.org.uk/collections/search/item/?id=30001354&search_query=bGltaXQ9MTYmQ0wlNUIwJTVEPU1pbGl0YXJ5K0hpc3Rvcnk%3D
Green woollen cloth armband with machine embroidered red King's crown over 'WLA' . Crown is flanked by hollow diamonds containing solid diamonds divided vertically in two, there is also a sewn on red cloth triangle bearing a smaller embroidered green triangle. Each half diamond represents six months service so the armband as issued represents two years with the additional diamond another six months. Fastened by two fawn coloured plastic buttons.

Hi,  I live in Massachusetts.  I grew up with Quills in Plymouth County and graduated with a Jessica Quill.  Her mom worked in my high school library.
You may want to search the vital records of Kingston, Plymton (not Plymouth), Halifax, and Pembroke when looking for the Quill family.

A map would be useful in checking the communities that lay beyond those I listed above.  Try the Bridgewaters as well.

I wish you luck in your search.

Take it to a good jeweler who engraves.  He/she would have know where to find the pattern books that they followed for that period.

Or call local museum.  They may be able to direct you to the right source.

Jane married William Roberts first, then Henry Plestid and finally George Barlow.   I am descended through her daughter Willina Amanda.  She married Daniel Sullivan.  Their daughter, Gertrude married John DeChambeau.  Contact me if you want more info.  From what marriage are you descended?  One, Two or Three?
