Hi
Sorry for not replying as frequently as I would like to but time does not always allow me.
I have attached the birth certificate of Marjorie Jean post adoption.
As for the info "Her name was Louisa Davis and 18yo single girl from Burnie Tasmania" I had it on some notes that I had recieved from my dad who was investigating this quite a while ago, but I have just recently found a letter that was written to my dad in relation to Louisa Davis from the Dept. of Health and Human Services in Tasmania. This is where that info must have came from. I have attached this as well. I wish I found this info a while ago it might of helped me a lot sooner.

I have have attached 3 documents that might help. I also have a "Record of birth" but that only has her adoptive parents names on it. Im happy to remove these documents if needed. These seem to be the only documents I have. Im not sure if the adoption involved solicitors

thanks

Australia / Tasmania Birth/Death Louisa Davis

Hi All
I hope I've posted in the right area, its been a while.
Im searching for my grandmothers birth mother. Her name was Louisa Davis and 18yo single girl from Burnie Tasmania.  She gave birth to my grandmother Marjorie Jean Davis 24th Jan 1920. But had her adopted out on the 16th March 1921. I have a number of documents ( consent to adopt , Order of adoption ) but I seem to be drawing a blank on the name Louisa Davis fitting the loose criteria of being born about 1902 in Tasmania. I understand she might not have been born in Tasmania or it might not have been her birth name of Louisa that has been signed on these forms. I have come across a few Louisa Davis name but they all don't match that well to require further investigation.
Only to happy to provide any more info if required
Thanks

Very Interesting Indeed
The age of the mother law ,( Im assuming it was Hannah Murphy ) ties in nicely, my records show she was born around 1773. There was some similar family issues mentioned in earlier posts, all around about 1850. There is nothing after this time everything goes very quiet, maybe this is what they wanted.
Hannah was buried in Warnanbool in 1857. 6-7 quiet years seems a little weird due to the fact we can find and read so much info on them all in the previous 50.
The search goes on for my " well known of character" ancestors

Hi All
Ive been doing a lot of searching and double checking over the last week or two and I really havnt come up with anything new. But what I can tell you is  about Elizabeth Cann's (Murphy) Mother, Sisters and Brother all moved to South Australia before she did.

1834
Ellinor Lucas nee Murphy and Charles Lucas Moved to NSW and VIctoria)

1839
Sister and  Brother in law (Jane Feutrill nee Murphy, and Theophilus Feutrill ) =  South Australia

1846
Mother , brother (Michael Murphy) his wife and Child (Sarah Murphy nee Baker) and a Brother in laws Brother (Feutrill)
http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/passengerlists/1846Julia.htm

Jane Feutrill died in SA in 1857
Hannah Murphy  ( Williams ) died in Victoria 1857
Michael is believed to have moved to New Zealand and died there Dipton 1889

As much as I read that Elizabeth Cann died in SA in 1854, I have a feeling that she might have married again for a fifth time and moved to Victoria. I can find no evidence of her anywhere in SA after 1850. I did see a mention of her name being associated with the former Alberton Cemetery, but I can find no records so maybe was a different person.
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me so far,but I think it might of come to a dead end.
Hopefully somebody might know a little more about this lady.
Thanks again.

Hi
Just Found out that "Elizabeth Cann's" sister Jane Fentrill(nee Murphy) moved to South Australia in 1839 with husband and children, might be a lead of some type.

Interesting article here - you may be right about the name Cann.
http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/71625474?searchTerm=%22martin%20cann%22%20shoemaker&searchLimits=
Martin is a shoemaker on the marriage record. The article says his wife has had 4 previous husbands.

4 Husbands?
Where is this mysterious forth husband before Martin Cann himself!!
And still no mention of Elizabeth Cann in S.A that I can find. Maybe she left him after this incident.
Maybe a move out of S.A?
