Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: 1841/51 Frederick Fisher, Islington
« on: Sunday 11 May 14 11:08 BST (UK)  »

I am trying to Find Frederick Samuel Fisher on the 1841 and 1851 census returns.
This is everything that I know about him:

In January 1859 he married Sarah Martha Whiting at St John the Baptist, Hoxton.
The marriage certificate states that he is a stationer, of full age and that his father was Samuel Fisher, deceased, an engraver (Engineer crossed out).

The 1861 census (RG9/156/166/47) gives his age as 26 and his occupation as a traveller, birthplace Islington.
The information on this census is a bit peculiar with the first names, but since there is a 12 day old child in the household perhaps that might have been the reason. Also in the household are Maria Fisher, mother, age 54 born Birmingham, and Amelia Fisher, sister, age 23 born Islington.

The 1871 census (RG10/289/75/62) gives his age as 36 and his occupation as Commercial traveller & Greengrocer.

He died in the first quarter of 1881.

I think that I have found Amelia on the 1851 census (HO107/2025/254/50) at school in West Bromwich with (possibly) a younger sister called Clara.

Assuming that he was born about 1835 I would have hoped that he was still at home on the 1841 census, but by 1851 he could be anywhere.

All help would be appreciated
Peter

PETER.
I've just been looking at my family tree.
I know its not what you were exactly looking for but I did find this statement in my tree...
Amelia Fisher at 76 Highbury Park, Islington, London in 1881.
It appears that one of my relatives and I quote...
'ALICE HERBERT, b. Mar 1863, Sattley, Warwickshire.
Notes for ALICE HERBERT:
Housemaid to Amelia Fisher at 76 Highbury Park, Islington, London in 1881'
Sorry that's all it says!
John.
