hi

Thanks.  Mmmmmm the plot thickens!  I'll be in touch once the certificates are in - be a week or 2.

Enjoy the bank holiday.

Hi Gorton

Thank you very much for getting back to me.  I will ensure I am courteous on all future communications.  I apologise for any offence caused.  I do really value the help provided.

I've ordered the certificates for William and Margaret's deaths.  So let's see what they uncover.

If you are up for some more... I'd like to look again at finding a wedding certificate for these 2 AND finding out where brinny Ocean is as stated as place of birth on 1851 damaged census.  I've looked through page after page on that census looking for other entries for xxxx ocean or brinny ocean and couldn't see any.  Does it refer to the Atlantic?  Could she be Canadian?

Thanks Graham.  Id found that link too.  Thing is I just have a mental block with national archive site.

I have subscriptions to ancestry, Find my past, Folio etc. I've looked but can't find anything there.

I am a novice though so could be looking in the wrong place!

Armed Forces / Court Martial 81st Regiment

Hi

Do you know if I can get more details of the court martial than this soldiers army record show?

William Kell
Number: 81
Regiment: 81st
20/5/1833 court martial date.

Here is a weblink to the army record:

https://www.fold3.com/image/585271853

Here is the deciphered handwriting of the section:
…..that his DISCHARGE is proposed in consequence of cough and pains in the chest and rheumatic pains in his limb, contracted in and by the service and the  BOARD APPROVES  of the opinion of the surgeon as shown by the medical report  HEREWITH ANNEXED

Then it goes on…

No 81 Drum-Major Willian Kell was tried by Regt Court Martial 20th May 1833
for being drunk ON THE LINE OF MARCH  and reduced from Drum major.  That since this time his conduct has been very good and that he was in possession of three good conduct RINGS PREVIOUS TO HIS BEING and his being again promoted to Drum major.

Just curious to see if there is more detail recorded somewhere.

Many Thanks in advance for your attention.

Gents

Many thanks.

I tool the 1841 question out of the other thread as I was overwhelmed with all the inf. and had spend another day looking for the 1841 stuff.

Apologies if I caused confusion and made a mistake by not following a protocol I apologise.

I am an inexperienced roots chat user.

Have a good evening gentlemen.

Hi Can I ask whether you can give me the link to the evidence of the reallocation of W Kell pension.  Post #32 made today?

I thought I had really studied his army record and couldn't find that about the reallocation.

Thanks

Hi

The help you have both provided is amazing, especially the speed.  It can take me hours just to find the evidence source you mention.  I am truly grateful and have learned a lot.

This week i have followed up on all your pieces of advice and tried to track back to the sources and ordered any certificates suggested that may unravel the evidence I need to continue building my tree.

I don't understand the "token thanks", what did I not do?

Hoping to hear back from you.
