 Thanks all for the replies
Yes I have his mic card & cheers for the resize. this is a fair sized site & Im still trying to find my way around so any links to the resize post would be most helpfull.
I have an even earlyer photo of him on horseback thats quiet amusing as the sword he has looks bigger than him (he was only 5,3).
Can anyone ID the coller badges for me & what do the strips on his left forearm reprosent, also can anyone ID the badge just above his left breast pocket.

 Many thanks Darren

 Hi all
Wonder if anyone can have a look at the attached photo & give me any info. they can make out e.g. date, reg. e.t.c.
His name is Arthur Alfred Laight, he was born 1877 in St. Pancras, London.
He enlisted with the army service corps. at Aldershot in September 1893.
His reg. no. was T/11424 which he kept until he left the army in Feb. 1920. I know he was part of the Indian army in WW1 but as to what div. I havent a clue.
He was'nt on the 1901 census & looking at this photo it looks like ones Ive seen of chaps in the Boar war.

 Cheers Darren

Cheers Meliora, I see that researching further back than civil registration is going to be a bit on the difficult side i.e. how do you know the people that you find & think thay are yours are actually yours.
How do I go about finding James parents marriage, baptism records & know its def. them.

 Cheers Darren
