Hello Aghadowey, Have just found my Sarah Kennedy at Quilly on 1901 and 1911 census as widow with single adult children.  Back in 2008 you were helping me with Gillespie/Kennedy/Murdoch round Dunboe parish and said you thought a friend of yours was descended from Kennedy of Quilly. Could you check that out for me please?  Most grateful  Loris

Hello Andorf and others interested, I'm still trying to find some more of today's generation, descendants of James Gillespie of Exorna, so would love to hear some more of your family, and happy to share mine

Thanks anyway, shame we couldn't connect our families. Are you in Australia too, same time zone?  Loris

Thanks Andy, that would be just as welcome. There are details under Help of how to send a Personal Message, but you might be better at understanding that than I am.  Until we can work out how to make contact directly, I'll transcribe the marriage details here.  'Marriage at Articlave, in the parish of Dunboe, in the county of Londonderry; 18 December 1856, Robert Murdoch, of full age, bachelor, baker; residence: Newtown limavardy? City, son of Robert Murdoch, farmer. - to   Martha Jane Gillespie, full age, spinster, - , residence:  Exorna, dau of James Gillespie, farmer.  Married in the first Dunboe Meeting house - Presbyterian - by license, by me, William Lyle.  Hope this helps a little, regards from Loris

Aghadowey, I've now looked up the Help list as I should have done earlier, and will try the PM system by following directions after a few more posts.   from Loris

Hello again Andy, I would be pleased to exchange Martha [Gillespie] Murdoch's marriage record for her son James' birth certificate!  From the dates, James would be Martha's first or second child; would you agree that they must have gone to Scotland soon after marriage, returned to N Ire, then back to Glasgow?
Aghadowey, could you explain how I should arrange a PM? Or do you have any other suggestion please?              Regards from Loris

My apologies, Aghadowey. I guess I just got a bit too enthusiastic. It's great to have this on-going forum.          Regards              Loris
