« on: Wednesday 14 December 05 05:12 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for a Philip Rainey and Bridget Rainey.  Should have at least one child Patrick and maybe a daughter Bridget .   Likely located in Dumbarton, Dumbarton.

Many thanks if someone has the time or ability!  :)

Lanarkshire / Re: Street name on OPR?

Thank you Douglas, I'll try that again.  I did try "googling" it but maybe I was being too specific (or not specific enough).  I'll give it a go.

Lanarkshire / Street name on OPR?
« on: Saturday 19 November 05 04:48 GMT (UK)  »
I've received a copy of an OPR (banns & marriages) for William Innes (shoemaker) who married Cordelia McLean in Barony, Lanark in December of 1833 - there appears to be a street name that I am at a loss to locate.  Anyone find this phrase to be familiar at all?:

Anderstoir Walk (or could read Anderston Walk - hard to read)

I've tried doing searches for it but am coming up with nothing.  Any thoughts are appreciated!

Renfrewshire / Re: Greenock Poorhouse - where to find info?
« on: Sunday 30 October 05 16:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi weemary

Thanks very much for finding that out for me.  I was afraid of that - I had found some reference to the actual Poorhouse, but the site was unsure if the records still were in existence.  A shame since  I've heard about others (in different localities) that have had quite a bit of personal information - beyond that of just name, d.o.b etc...

I appreciate your help! Lisa

Renfrewshire / Greenock Poorhouse - where to find info?
« on: Friday 28 October 05 05:54 BST (UK)  »
I have a relation who's death is listed as being at the Greenock Poorhouse (death due to bronchitis) in 1879 ( Cordelia Innes - nee McLean died April 19, 1879).  Is there any way (online) to access poorhouse records? (I'm overseas).  I've been told they are often a wealth of information and her husband is quite the brick wall for me.

Thanks for any thoughts, Lisa

Just thought I'd close this off by saying I found it!  It was on the cwgc site - don't know why I couldn't find that before  :)

Wonderful site, but no, unfortunately not the one I am looking for.  Thank you for trying!

Dunbartonshire / Grave yards or churches in Dumbarton

Does anyone have a list of, or know of a site that might have a list, of grave yards in Dumbarton?  I once had a on-line link to my gg-uncles grave site that had been photographed.  He died while serving in the marines, so perhaps that was why it was on-line, but I lost the link several years ago.  Am now trying to refind it, any suggestions appreciated as the searches I've been trying are coming up cold!  Thanks in advance  :)

Dunbartonshire / 1871 Look up by street?
« on: Monday 26 September 05 06:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I'm pretty new to this and am trying to find out if you can look up who was living in a particular residence during the 1871 census?  I've been trying to locate Bridget Rainey (and any family) who should have been at 29 High Street (according to her wedding register info) but am having no luck. Any ideas appreciated!  Thank you, Lisa
