Hi Andy,

If you have the marriage certificate for Sarah Ann Fulcher & Charles Batley Goodson I'd be most interested to know the name of Sarah's father. It is the Fulcher family that I'm following.

Many thanks, Sue

Hi Jonathan,

William Sloper & Susanna Hale are my 4x gt grandparents also  :)

Going backwards with this family I have:

William bap at Rushall 29 Dec 1775 & Susanna bap at Marden 09 Jul 1776, they married 18 Aug 1796 in Marden.

William's parents: James Sloper bap 13 Dec 1746 Market Lavington & Elizabeth Huntley bap 27 Jul 1751 Rushall

James parents: James Sloper bap 13 May 1719 Market Lavington & Jane unknown

I don't seem to have a James Sloper marrying a Mary, but that may be a gap in my research. Though I do have your 3x gt grandmother, Sarah Sloper, marrying William White at Rushall in 1818.

I am descended from William & Susanna's daughter Mary, who married John Davis in Rushall.

Does that help or confuse?..lol

Regards, Sue

I don't think the registers are on line but Wiltshire does have a BMD site (there's a link to it on this forum) for post 1837. I went to the records office which is now in Chippenham, where they have them on fiche. There are some transcription books available from places like Genfair & Parish Chest at reasonable prices.

Hope that helps

So Sorry, I forgot to say... that my information has come from the parish registers, which I have viewed at the records office over the last few years. Just in case you wanted to make a note of this for future reference.  :)

Thanks for that info.

I believe she was born in Rushall, but bap in Woodborough where her mother came from. Often the 1st born was taken to the mothers parish for the baptism.

Yes, I had a note that she possibly married Jonas, as I didn't have the cert I wasn't sure. But you mentioned you do have the cert and it states her father was named George, so there's a high chance it's the same Jane.

I don't have her in the census after 1851, is she consistent with her place/year of birth?

Hi,

I have Jane Sloper in my tree (1st cousin 4x removed), so could probably help you.

Jane Sloper was baptised 1 Sep 1822 in Woodborough to parents George Sloper & Elizabeth Robbins.

George & Elizabeth also had a son named George, bap 21 Nov 1824 in Rushall.

George (snr) was bap 5 Oct 1800 in Rushall & married Elizabeth Robbins 20 Oct 1819 Rushall.

George (1800) was the son of William Sloper & Susanna Hale - these are my 4x gt grandparents.

Hope that helps  :)

Regards Sue

Hi Pam,

I would suggest that you get the death cert for the James Sloper that died in 1946, or do you already have this? Who was the informant?

Do you know if he married? There is a possible marriage in Sep Q 1918, Wycombe reg district to Violet Holloway, which I have not investigated (as he is a 3rd cousin 3x removed, so not a close relative), but might be worth you following up. He was living in Buckinghamshire with his parents on the 1901 & 1911 census.

Hi Pam,

I have the James Sloper that Pauline found (in 1901 census) in my tree.
Do you have any further info that would confirm he's the one you're looking for? If it is, I may be able to help.

Sue
