Thank you for those, I hadn't seen them before!

Yes, it's confusing and being tired doesn't help haha.

Well, Thomas was also a butcher and I believe he was working for Gilbert. I guess Thomas had been working, but not recieving any payment for it?

England / Help with deciphering a situation in a newspaper clipping!
« on: Sunday 09 May 21 19:38 BST (UK)  »
Good evening everyone,

I was wondering if someone could help me decipher exactly what this newspaper clipping means, please? I am a little confused about the whole situation!

It was posted on 17th April 1863 in the Stamford Mercury newspaper.

Thank you very much in advance!
Kind Regards,
Tony.

P.S. Thomas Lovett Beacock was my 3x great grandfather, and Gilbert Burton Handson was his step father. (note the old term of "son-in-law" to show this relation).

@gogogadgetlegs - Thank you so much for that. I didn't see that whilst I was looking.

Where did you find this please?

I have just seen your private message so I will email you.

Thank you,
Tony.

I was going to fall back on that option if I couldn't find anything/anyone on here couldn't find anything.

I have had a look at some, but to no avail. I was trying to find out if there was something in newspapers or anything similar, that I had possibly missed.

Thanks for responding.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Edith Barr Drowned Fitling
« on: Friday 08 November 19 13:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Everyone.

I am trying to find anything about the death of Edith Barr at Fitling, East Yorkshire. She apparently drowned in the pond at a farm there called Canham's Farm (sometimes known as Cantram's). I have found the death index from 1913, but trying to prove that she drowned.

We know for definite a girl drowned there. A lot of people in the village know of it and say that "she was a Ford". Her mother's maiden name was Ford and she was living in Fitling with her grandparents, also Fords.

Thank you very much in advance for your help,
Tony.

Fair enough! Yes I know, they're awful to try and read. I wish they photograph them again, as technology is a lot better now, meaning scanners etc are much better!

Hi rosie99,

I thought the parish records started in 1570? I'm just struggling to find anything else about them, even into the 1600s. It's a shame that more information wasn't recorded about events. :(
