Apologies- it is possible that the Chappell family may have lived in the Dewsbury area in 1901 and so please could someone look in the Bradford and Dewsbury census.

Thank you

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: how do I find out about Heysham Hall
« on: Tuesday 12 December 17 19:57 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for your message and very useful information about my ancester, Thomas Pennington.  I have him being born around 1751 and he died (at Barrow Greaves farm) in 1841.  I have had a look at Barrow Greaves from google maps and I visited Heysham a few years ago and was aware the land had been used to build a housing estate.  I think Thomas Pennington had occupied the Old Hall Inn but am not sure when took up the tennancy.  In view of his age when he died in 1841, he must have moved to Barrow Greaves when he was not able to look after himself.  The farm was occupied by one of his sons, William and he was the main beneficiary in Thomas's will.

Let me know if there is anything you would like to know about this family.  It is a while since i looked at family history but have quite a bit of information to hand.

Kind regards.

Hi Stephen,

no I didn't know about this and thanks for letting me know.  I have not really looked at the family history stuff for a while but thankfully, this one of the hobbies that you can put down and then pick up later on.  On the occasion that I look online though, I still manage to find a little bit of info on Raygill and the Aldersley family that lived there , albeit no family photos (which is a pity).

:)Thank you very much for this information.  It is really useful.  I can confirm that Arthur lived at Sticker Lane and will check out the library and have a look at google as you have suggested.

Thanks, once again.

World War One / Bradford Pals/West Riding Regiment
« on: Saturday 25 January 14 16:37 GMT (UK)  »
 Hello,

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to researching WW1 and so thought it better to consult experts in rootschat!

My grandfather enlisted in Bradford Dec 1915 and on his service medals it says his regiment number was 267488 West Riding Regiment.  I am told from family members that he was injured at Passchendaele.  What I am trying to establish is whether he was in the Bradford Pals-was this the same as the West Riding Regiment or was it something completely different.  Also, if anyone has any other info on him, for instance, when he was injured and where he was treated/discharged etc.  His name was Arthur Aldersley (born 1894).  Thank you for any help that is given
