LAW1221:   If you send me a pm I can provide you with a contact who is a Gilpin researcher.  His family hail from Balteagh and Ballinacor Townlands, Seagoe Parish.   A William Verner Gilpin married into this family in 1856.

Kiltaglassan, Apologies - I had started to reply to Grey but noticed their last reply was signed off as KG however having reread this thread it was an oversight.   I've already replied to Grey's PM.                Hi Scotmum :-), Thanks for being on the ball and keeping me in the loop :-)   There are many family historians within the Canadian twigs of this family so hopefully between us we can assist GreyFitzsimmons :-)

Hi KG, Just noticed your pm this evening..... I seldom use the email account registered with rootschat  so apologies for delay in replying.   Hi scotmum - it's been a long time since we last chatted :-)   KG, I cannot get you any further back than William Fitzsimmons and Ann Ward but may be able to provide additional info re. location, other family members, sources, photos etc.   I live a short drive from the old house - have you a photo of it?  It was demolished in the 1990's.    I'll reply to you message and we can chat via email afterward.

Regards,
Barbara

Armagh / Re: Who Were The Parents of William Burrell Born 1831 Lurgan Ireland??

Hi again Kate,

Seagoe Church of Ireland BMD records would be a good source.   I am snowed under at present but maybe someone else can do a look up for you.   If you have no luck, give me a shout in a few weeks and I will do it.   I do know that Valentine Burrell is buried in Seagoe cemetery as his grave is only a few away from one of my ancestors graves.    The records of Seagoe Cemetery are only searchable from 1901 however burials were taking place hundreds of years before that, hence I suggest the Church Records which date from the 1600's.  Drumcree Chuch of Ireland may also be worthwhile to search along with the graveyards in Lurgan . ie. Shankill and Lurgan Cemetery aka the New Cemetery even though it dates from the 1800's.  http://www.lurganancestry.com/gravestones.htm  has the grave inscriptions for Valentine in Seagoe and also a Burrell in Shankill :-)

Hi,
There is a William Burrell listed in the tithes applotment records for Seagoe Parish in 1834 in the townland of Drumnacnvey plus a Robert Gray in the townland of Breagh.  These would have been in the timeframe that William and Elizabeth were born.   http://www.lurganancestry.com/seagoetithes1834p1.htm

Hi,

As it is within living memory accurate family records will be harder to access online.  Try contacting the local newspaper , they have numerous contacts who could verify your information plus several journalists who specialise in this area.   http://www.portadowntimes.co.uk/contact-us   Or as listed in a previous post the site Portadown photos as I am sure Jim , the man responsible for the site will know.

Barbara

Lots of 'Burrell's' living in neighbouring town of Portadown.  Seagoe Church of Ireland Parish registers worth investigating.  The Burrells lived in many townlands equal distance between the Towns of Lurgan and Portadown.
