Thank you Jamjar & sparrett - have that info now.

So is there a way of finding out about his passage application,

his next of kin, or a last address?  Cheers Absot

Thank you trish1120 for your information on Dalwood family SA & apologies for late reply.
I did come across an online freely available history by a Dalwood family member -
The Whole Dalwood database.
He has put a lot of info there which shows the relationship of the generations.
Regarding those dear little bundles, they get to do FH at school & ask Nanny & Poppa
'whose that ancestor, where's his mummy, daddy, brothers & sisters?'
There is a name for the husband of Melina, & info of his life in Adelaide, but still
trying to ID him before he arrived there.  Thanks Absot

Hi Jamjar,
Yes William was William Thorne Dalwood; as I've run out of time today I'll have to get back to you.
Have so much going round in my head, have to re-adjust tomorrow.
Sorry don't remember all the details at the moment - & yes Melina died 1903. Thank you Absot
PS  Was having fun reading the Are You Addicted to Genealogy segment, Fabulous!

Hi,

Searching for the husband of an immigrant who arrived in Adelaide Australia
from Somerset UK on the Lalla Rookh in 1840.
The family was Elliza and William Dalwood and their children.
The daughter of interest was Melina Dalwood baptized Jan. 1832 in Somerset.
Does anyone know who she married?  Thanks Absot

THANKS Forfarian,
I've submitted a request to a moderator & realised it should go to my original post
called 'Identifying teenagers in 1851 from 1841 census', as if there is no luck there
I'll have to widen the search.  The request is rather long winded for the space provided -
so hope I've done the right thing!  cheers absot

Hi Forfarian,

Slo-coach here again.  Not the healthiest bod in town.
Thanks for the Scottish naming pattern, I had heard of it; useful to follow when used.
Yes, re David in 1841, there were 2 who were actually Daniel.  I have also seen reference
to a Daniel Gardner & Agnes Anderson AND Donald Gardner & Agnes Anderson.  I'm going
round the bend trying to ID families!

Now need some advice.  I have more suspects for the man I'm trying to find, & they
are in Lanarkshire - at the moment!  Should I continue my quest under William G. 1802,
or go to the Lanark Scotland Board? cheers absot

Hi Forfarian,

Am trying not to go down the certificate path as yet because there are a few suspects for the person who needs to be ID'd.
One might be that William's son John; plus I'm investigating another William who may or may not have gone to America as a couple of his sisters did.
There are other teenagers in 1841 who are living away from home & not able to find them in 1851.
So many sites & family trees show people with the same name who are born around the same time.
Just need to find a young man by the name of Gardner who left Scotland before 1850! cheers absot
