The Common Room / William TREWARTHA 1883?-1964
« on: Monday 19 December 22 02:59 GMT (UK)  »
William married Elizabeth Esther DWYER  1913 in New South Wales.
At Williams death in New South Wales in 1964 parents stated as Colun and Mary.
I have a few spare Williams that are close, but I need to be sure.
Don't have any birth-place for him.

Any clues?

thanks

Di

Jennifer/jane was born Nicholls, married Lt James Nankivell 1820. they had a total of 13 children,  there are 3 Nancy Nankivells, I'm assuming the one born 1826 and married james Gerry is yours?
 Nancy Nankivell
Event Type:   Baptism
Christening Date: 27 Apr 1826
Christening Place:    Tavistock, Devon
Father's Name:   John Nankivell
Mother's Name:   Mary Nankivell
The father John married Mary Bawden/Bowden1809 with 7 children that we know of.  I'm afraid the Nankivell researchers cannot agree on where the 'John' fits in.

Devon / Re: Alice Nankivell, 1808?-1883 convict

Thanks for the heads up, I have seen her trial before, no clues there as to who she is. Too bad there was not a 1831 Devon census.
I find Devon Parish records so hard to find without paying for them, unlike the Cornwall records, where I spend most of the time.
This bit from her record is interesting...
GEORGE AUGUSTUS KOLLMAN . I am organist of His Majesty's German Chapel , and live in St. James' Palace ; the prisoner lived from July to October in my service, but she had been three years in my father's service; we gave her a good character to a gentleman in Welbeck-street, but about two months after she left us, suspicion arose - she was taken, and some duplicates were found on her, which were found to relate to my property. He died in 1845.

Alice convicted at old bailey 1831 and was aged 24 when convicted. Also known as Alice  Ankerville at her marriage to William Wilson in Tasmania in 1834. Arrived on the "Hydery' 1832 as Alice Nankeville.
I believe she was bapt in Plymouth St Mary in 1801 d/o  John and Alice. Which brings up a new mystery, who were th ey?
All clues welcome

Sorry so long in replying, William died in 1905, so the 1911 census could not be him.
William H. Trewartha
BIRTH   16 May 1854
DEATH   2 Feb 1905 (aged 50)
BURIAL
Harriston Cemetery
Harriston, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada
PLOT   CC-3-34

Abraham and Elizabeth had a total of 6 children, only the 3 girls married, Catherine to John Waters , 1877, Elizabeth Jane to William Chapman pre 1888, and Mary to her 3rd cousin Wiliam Knight Trewartha, in 1902.
the 1911 census was Mary and William Trerwartha, with their adopted son, William and biological son, Not sure who Leonora is,  born 1888, William and Mary were not married till 1902.
Have to do some work on that one.

Thanks again for all your help.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: Creed Marriage and baptism of bride?

That one I have, it  was Peter and Rosemund Hawke, married in 1696.
As a 'best guess' it was their  son John who with a 'Jane' were Elizabeth's parents.
Sadly  no paper confrmation.
I don't know the County well, what is the closest parish that they might use?
