Nottinghamshire / Thomas Grimsdale. Nottingham
« on: Tuesday 29 March 16 14:07 BST (UK)  »

Can anyone help with a date of birth and ancestors of Thomas Grimsdale.

There is a possible record in the 1911 Census when his age is given as 40 and is living at Hedsor Grove Hyson Green Nottingham. His birthplace is given as London, England
Possibly married to Sarah Ellen Hancox 15 May 1897 in Bulwell, Notts. In 1901 census Sarah & her two children, Beatrice and Maud was staying as visitor's with Joseph Dickerson and his children in Bulwell.
Possibly then married to Ellen Foulds Jun qtr 1912 Nottingham and from the second marriage there are records of daughters Marjorie born 1913 Nottm. Alice M born 1915 Nottm and Olive born 1916 Nottm.

On his marriage certificate dated eighth June 1922 His age is stated as 50 years old (some doubt as to accuracy) and his status is given as widower, occupation Confectioner. Father William Grimsdale (Deceased) occupation Private 8th Suffolks
Spouse Mary Ann Poole aged 42 years   widow  Father John Taylor General Labourer
Both living at Brushfield Street Hyson Green Nottingham
In February 1927 he was arrested, charged and was sent to prison for 15 months. At this time his age was given as 58 years old.
Soon after he was imprisoned he became ill and died on 3rd October 1927. His address was given as 4 Speechley Street Hyson Green Nottingham and his occupation as fruiterer and army pensioner.
He was buried on the 8th October at Basford Cemetery, Nottingham

Hi Ambly
Thanks very much for your efforts - With Shaw being such a common name it has been very difficult to find the right lines to pursue.

Brilliant work !
