thank you
i cant find him on scotlands people for some reason
there are 2 others on the transcription the same age marked as Ap. voyage
theres something not quite right about the ages on this transcription as they are all either 15, 20,25 or30 and the year of birth corresponds to this
i read that the 1841 census had a set way of recording ages but on this transcription they also give the year of birth and theyre all 1826, 1816 etc
my george jeffery was born 1817
i dont know anything about the merchant navy apart from the sailors being more or less redundant between voyages
why were their details recorded if they were out of the country on board ships?

Family History Beginners Board / AP VOYAGE?

researchinf george jeffery born 1817 midlothian
in the 1841 census i think ive found him but his occupation reads Ap voyage to Mairoteno
the census address is St Anthony place , Leith Midlothian and theres a mixture of people there some saying on voyage to various places but others Ap voyage
i believe George was later a merchant seaman so im assuming this is some sort of boarding house but does Ap mean hes applied to go or that hes doing an apprenticeship ? and where on earth is Mairoteno?or is it a ships name ?
thanks in advance for any help

birth 1792 walditch dorset  anne hyde to william hyde and sarah

thank you very much both
thats the only baptism record that i can find for ellen  :(
i had wondered if ellen was a cousin but the 1851 census states abi collins as sister of ellen parsons
if i could find a burial for ann/e collins in dorset or misterton between 1831 and 1841i would accept that amos mother was ann hyde
