Many thanks Barbara, I have the info on James McCalls son although I see on the 1851 census they are spelling it McColl so maybe I should check spelling variants for 1841. Will try that when I can get access to the archives in London, but thank you anyway for your help so far.  Regards  Brenda

Hi Barbara, Thank you so much for getting back to me. All I can tell you is that Joseph was born around 1772 somewhere in Newcastle and on 24th November 1794 married a Mary Hall at St. Johns, Newcastle. He was in the 10th Regiment of Foot and was abroad for most of his married life. He had a son Joseph born in 1797 at Newport I.O.W. where he was stationed at that time. I have found no other children as yet.He was a Chelsea pensioner but as yet I don't even know what County he would have collected his pension in.
He died at 22 Canada Street in 1856
On the 1851 Census HO107 2402 Folio 35 He was at Oakwellgate Lane, Gateshead (St. Mary's) That is all I know.
I am so sorry if this is not sufficient information for you but perhaps you could direct me as to where I start to look for him. Thank you once again for your assistance. Regards Brenda

Urgently seeking a kind person to look up and address in Gateshead in 1841.
I have Joseph & Mary McCall living at OAKWELLGATE LANE, GATESHEAD (St. Mary's) in 1851 but need to go back looking for any of their children.
In 1851 Joseph is 72yrs and born in Newcastle on Tyne. He is a sergeant in the 10th regiment of foot. His wife Mary is 78yrs and born Gateshead.
This is my first time on the board so forgive me if I have missed off any information.
