Not sure if this is relevant but I have found a possible marriage for the sister, an Army one in Germany in 1991.

I can't be absolutely certain because the names are not given in full, only the initial for the second name which matches the sister.

One likely child from that marriage.

You can view the record for this on Find My Past in the British Armed Forces And Overseas Banns And Marriages section.

I've just checked the 192 website using the married name and there is a family of that name living in West Lothian but the last date is 2010 so I don't know if that is still current.

It seems that Karen had a brother as well as a sister.  Have you tried looking for him?

Or perhaps he is a cousin?  His birth registration district is not the same as the two girls.  Born in between the two girls.

Welcome to Rootschat Loobie  :D

Was there some reason for her funeral to be at Ripon as opposed to Liverpool?  The fastest route by car from Liverpool to Ripon is about 2 hours.

Have you tried checking newspapers for that period of time to see if there was any death notice which included burial details?

I assume that you have not kept in contact with anyone who may know where she is buried?

You could try contacting Ripon Cathedral to see if they can help or know where you can find the information.

1989 was over 30 years ago so I don't know if they hold funeral service records that far back.

What I noticed about ones where children's names appeared was that payment stops when they reach the age of 16.

Perhaps another suggestion that this is a legal thing?

on the 1921 Census they had to give their age in years and months

This is assuming that no porkies were told about their ages  ::)

I shall be looking for my maternal great grandfather's mistress.  He left his wife and set up home with her.

She was known as Florence Emily Lloyd but went by the name of Emily.  She appears as Emily England on great grandfather's death certificate when he died in 1920.  I am hoping I will get a more precise place of birth.

They never married even though they could have after his wife died in 1918.

I've had a poke about on google and I wonder if it is related to the law in any way?

https://www.easylawlookup.com/Legal-Dictionary/Novels/_easylookup.blp?data=PROBAT2&site=EASY&location=76633&sidfw=&spon=&dictitem=novels

The below website shows quite a number of examples of this Noted for Novel phrase.
