Thank you all so much - I can't believe the difference and a special thanks to Caroline for the "fun" one. You tend to forget that they were not just dressed in sepia clothes all those years ago.

Hi all,

This is a photograph of my grandmother Catherine (Kate) Neary, standing, and her sister Jane Neary. They were from Staleen in Co. Meath, Ireland and were born in 1890 and 1885 respectively. Catherine was married in 1914 to James Gleeson in Athy, Co. Kildare, Ireland and I believe that this photo is taken before then. Unfortunately it is quite damaged but if anyone can help some restoration I would be very grateful.

Hello,
I want to order a will from the National Archives and I have located the index on their site. It tells me when the person died and when the Grant of Probate was made, and to whom it was made. I have printed the order form to obtain a copy of the testamentary document and must select which type of document I require. I am stuck between 2 options:- a)Will and b) Grant of Probate. I assumed that I select Will but would like to be sure. Does anyone know?

Hi,
I have a blurred photo of the gravestone of James Gleeson and his family in Arles Cemetery. There is one large gravestone for which I do have the details but there are 3 other smaller gravestones in the same plot that are blurred in my photo. Is there anyone that could provide me with the information on these smaller gravestones? I believe two refer to Kathleen Gleeson and one to Rose Gleeson.

Hi,

I did post a question on this a long time ago and am hoping that possibly someone new to Rootschat has an answer.
The townland of Stalleen / Staleen in Co Meath is not present in the Tithe Applotment Books and yet I have gravestone transcriptions that mention Staleen and date from 1814 and 1818.

Could Staleen have been part of another townland? I am struggling to find a reason for why this townland is not part of the Tithe Applotment Books.
