Wow everyone, they are great! He looked like such a character, and lived to such a ripe old age as well. He is buried in an unmarked grave in our local disused cemetery.

I think you could be right that he is in his seventies, but I didn't know if it could be dated accurately from his clothing?

I have posted this photo before, but the quality was not brilliant as it was from an old photocopy. Yesterday I was given an original taken from the negative so here is a scanned copy of it.

It is my GG Grandad Alfred Hider/Hyder on his trike outside his local watering hole! I was hoping for an approximate date for the photo. He died in 1943 age 95.

Here's hoping.

Travelling People / Search for the Travelling Brazil's please 1851-1891
« on: Sunday 04 January 09 10:02 GMT (UK)  »
My GG Aunt Amy Golby married Joseph Brazil/Brazill/Brazeill/Brazell on 25 July 1892 in Holmwood, Surrey. On the 1901 census they are in Lezant in Cornwall in tents. Joseph and Amy are also with Emmanuel Golby and Stephen Golby (Amy's brothers). They are walking stick cutters.

Joseph Brazil was born on 18 Jan 1860 in Bodlestreet, Warbleton, Sussex and baptised on 24 February 1860 in the parish church, Brenchley, Kent. His parents are James Brazil and Charlotte Wenman. I do not have birth years or places for them as I have not been able to find any of them on the census' except Joseph in 1901. I have spent a year searching, and I am sure they are there somewhere!

I am really hoping that some of you super sleuths can help find them for me.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: Clean Up And Date for Edith Please!
« on: Saturday 03 January 09 09:21 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks everyone, they are brilliant!

Any ideas on date though. She was born in about 1870 (if I have the right person), but the double photo looked quite late.

She has written on the back of them "To Doris, from Aunt Edith Beech". Doris was my Nan and was born in 1908. She also whote on another to my Great Nan "Jessie's nephew Alfred Beech". Alfred died in 1915.

This is what  makes me think that the dating of the photos is earlier that I assumed.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Clean Up And Date for Edith Please!
« on: Friday 02 January 09 21:43 GMT (UK)  »
This is Edith Beech, who although not sure, I think is my GG Aunt. She has written on the back of the photos to my Nan and had signed it Aunt Edith Beech. On the double one, she has put that it was a snap taken at "Marks and Sparks", so I dont know it that will help date that one.

The single one is very foxed, so was hoping for a date and a cleanup.

Kent Lookup Requests / Re: charles beech
« on: Friday 02 January 09 19:14 GMT (UK)  »
I cannot believe that I have stumbled across this post!!!! Charles Beech was the first son of my GG  Grandmother Ann Davis and her husband Thomas Beech. They had 6 children. William, Charles, Mary, Agnes, Emily and Sidney. When Thomas died, ay GG Grandmother remarried twice, and her 3rd husband Alfred Hider was my GG Grandfather.

I have been given all the family photos, and have one of Alfred Beech (Son of Charles and Annans), and some photos of Edith Beech, but have yet to figure out who she is! I am hoping someone can tell me, and I would love to share the pictures with you. They were sent to my G Grandmother Jessie, and are signed Aunt Edith Beech.

Cant wait to hear back from you.
I have lots of info on them, and as I live in Paddock Wood have spent many hours at the local public records office!!!!
