It seems she was born in Lanchester, then moved to Manchester, then to Liverpool and eventually to Berkshire.

Yes, got that the rest home, thanks. Did a search for siblings and looks like there are two.
I really don't know how to thank you all for the help, it's fantastic.
I'm 66 years old and just finding out about my past. Until recently I just assumed I couldn't because of being adopted.

Does that mean there are two recorded deaths in two different names?
Is that normal as in the register may show her married name and maiden name? I know it can appear on a gravestone.

This is all very helpful, I found the two boys she gave birth to in 1947 (twins) sadly it looked as though they died at birth. I don't think that her husband William McCormack who she married in 1945 is my biological father as on my birth certificate the father is not named. Going to check the Piluans link.
Thank you all so much.

Finding anything is proving difficult owing to the fact I was adopted. However, have a copy of my original birth certificate and from that found out mothers birth year and the year she married. I was born in 1949 at 72 Delaunys Rd, Crumpsall, Manchester. Apparently this address was once the workhouse, but I guess that by the time I was born it was part of Crumpsall Hospital. My birth mothers name was Sadie McCormack nee Parkinson. The strange thing is on the 1939 census it shows also Sadie and or Michelle Pillows / Pillians. Anyone any ideas or has anyone had search results like this.
Any help and advice would be very appreciated.
