Devon Lookup Requests / Re: Look Up Request: parents of Richard PROVO
« on: Friday 13 May 16 21:26 BST (UK)  »
You can see the full marriage entry via the DFHS - they can provide a copy of the register. Witnesses' names may be a clue. He can't have been born ca 1763 and married in 1778. There is a burial for a 47 year old Richard in 1799 so born 1752 ish. There are 2 Richard PROVOs shown here http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/Plymouth/PlymouthArtificers/PlymouthArtificers1779-119

Thanks! I thought maybe he married when he was 16 or so and that the birth date was maybe a few years out. Thanks again

Born around 1763, in Stoke Damerel. He married a Margaret Yeo, also from Devon on 06 June 1778 at Stoke Damerel Church and possibly had a son, Leonard Yeo Provo, in 1783.

I can't seem to find anything about his parents at all.  :-\ Thanks in advance   :)

The marriage certificate would be the best thing for younger as Lizdb said so you can see what information is on it regarding his age ...is this the marriage in 1926 in Exeter ? Death for Lillian in 1970 Exeter
Rosie

Thanks everyone. I've been doing some intensive searching for details about Albert, I've just ordered a marriage certificate today. I'll keep you all updated

Does this look like their marriage?

https://familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3A%22vera%20may%22~%20%2Bsurname%3Awood~%20%2Bbirth_place%3Aportsmouth~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1900-1910~%20%2Bspouse_givenname%3A%22frank%20charles%22~%20%2Bspouse_surname%3Ajones~%20%2Brecord_country%3AEngland

No census records have been released after 1911.  You might try the voter lists though

Hi, the first result is indeed their marriage. I will have a good look through the voter lists, thank you :)

Hi all,

I can't seem to find this couple on any census record, and I can't find any birth records for either of them either.  ???

I know that they married in Portsmouth in 1928 and that they lived at 36 Lindley Avenue, Southsea. They had a daughter in 1933 and the family moved to Devon at some point thereafter.

I was wondering if anyone has any information about this couple??

Thanks in advance

Brilliant finds Annette. I guessed it must have been a second marriage but didn't have time to follow it up last night. That means there are probably living relations doesn't it?

Thanks everyone for all your help :) there are many living relations :)

Devon Lookup Requests / Confirmation of a marriage that possibly took place?
« on: Wednesday 27 April 16 01:34 BST (UK)  »
If Ancestry family trees are anything to go by, Raymond A Morgan married Winifred Rayner in Devon in 1945. However, the sources that are cited seem rather vague. How can I go about confirming whether or not this marriage took place?

Thanks in advance
