This is what I have on this family:

23d.  Jean Sands, who was born on 13 March 1818 at Arnvicar in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, and died after the 1881 census.  She married (6 February 1842, Port of Menteith Parish) Archibald Alexander Dow (born 9 June 1819, Scotland; baptised 21 July 1820, Burntisland, Fife, Scotland; died 21 April 1888), son of Lieut. Archibald Dow and his wife Margaret [Surname?].  They had issue eight children, two daughters and six sons:

..24a.  Archibald Dow, who was born on 25 December 1842 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland. He married (1871) Agnes Graham;

..24b.  Robert Dow, who was born on 11 December 1845 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, and was alive in May 1942.  He married (17 November 1871, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland) Elizabeth Muir (born 27 August 1847, Airdrie; died there 8 August [Year?]), with whom he had issue an only child, a daughter:

....25a.  Margaret Harvie Dow, who was born on 25 September 1872 at Airdrie in Lanarkshire, Scotland, and died on 29 October 1953 at Campbeltown in Kintyre in Argyllshire, Scotland.  She married (15 January 1892, Glasgow, Lanarkshire) Thomas Whitelaw (died 3 June 1897), with whom she had issue an only child, a son:

......26a.  Thomas Whitelaw, who was born on 16 November 1892 at Airdrie in Lanarkshire, Scotland, and was killed in action on 26 April 1942 at Malta during the Second World War.  He married (30 January 1920, Glasgow, Lanarkshire) Mary McKenzie Campbell (born 4 June 1892, Glasgow), with whom he had issue three children, two of whom nothing is known leaving an eldest child, a daughter:

........27a.  Elizabeth Knox Smith Whitelaw, who was born on 11 December 1920 in Scotland, and died there in June 1999.  She married (26 June 1942) John Malcolm (born 20 January 1920, Glasgow; died 26 July 1983), with whom she had issue three children, two of whom nothing is known leaving an eldest child, a son:

..24h.  William Dow, who was born on 5 November 1859 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland.  He married (banns 26 February 1879, Callander Parish, Perthshire) Catherine Stewart, (born 13 September 1862, Tarndrum, Callander Parish), only daughter of Peter Stewart, and his wife and first cousin Elizabeth Stewart.  They had issue, two daughters:

....25a.  Elizabeth Dow, who was born circa 1879 in Callander Parish, Perthshire, Scotland.

....And,

....25b.  Jane Dow, who was born circa 1880 in Callander Parish, Perthshire, Scotland.

Jean Sands (23d. above) was a daughter of my 4xgreat-grandparents Robert Sands and his wife Margaret MacQueen.

"Over the last thirty odd years I have needed to access these books for three parishes in Perthshire and one in Stirlingshire none of which were archived in Edinburgh.  In the Stirlingshire case it was kept by the incumbent Session Clerk at his home as it was in one of the Perthshire parishes while in another it was in a storeroom at the kirk and in the last it was at the manse."

The Stirlingshire parish was Drymen.  The then Perthshire parishes were in the order above, Kilmadock, Gartmore (Port of Menteith parish books), and Killin.

John Sands (continued from 23h. above), married secondly (27 November 1860, Union Farm, Port of Menteith Parish) to Margaret MacNab (born 1832, Scotland; died 9 September 1917, Port of Menteith Parish), daughter of Robert MacNab and his wife Margaret Alexander.  With his second wife he had further issue seven children, three more sons and four daughters (PLUS YOUR ANCESTRESS):

24c.  Margaret Sands, who was born circa 1861 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland;

24d.  Robert Francis Sands, who was born on 10 October 1865 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, and died there on 9 April 1926 (buried there in Port of Menteith Parish Kirkyard).  He farmed there at Ward of Goodie;

24e.  John Sands, who was born in 1868 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, and died there on 3 April 1930 (buried there in Port of Menteith Parish Kirkyard).  He farmed there at Ward of Goodie, and married Agnes Farquhar Kemp (born 1873, Scotland; died 16 October 1970, Port of Menteith Parish; buried Port of Menteith Parish Kirkyard);   

24f.  James Sands, who was born in 1869 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, and died there on 14 September 1948 (buried there in Port of Menteith Parish Kirkyard).  He farmed there at Mosside of Boquhapple;

24g.  Helen Sands, who was born in 1870 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, and died young there on 30 November 1874 at  Ward of Goodie (buried in Port of Menteith Parish Kirkyard);

24h.  Janet Sands, who was born circa 1874 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland.

And,

24i.  Anne Sands, who was born in 1876 in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland, and died young there on 30 November 1878.

No Argyllshire returns for Peter s/o John +/- 10yrs of 1770. Glassary parish records started 1750 but neighbouring South Knapdale parish not until 1771, and Kilcalmonell & Kilberry parish the southern neighbour of South Knapdale didn't start records until 1777
