Interesting subject!

I'm a Maple Tree apparently, which is very appropiate living in Canada surrounded by loads of Maple Trees!  :D

MAPLE TREE (Independent) - no ordinary person, full of imagination and originality, shy and reserved, ambitious, proud, self-confident, hungers for new experiences, sometimes nervous, has many complexities, good memory, learns easily, complicated love life, wants to impress.

I must say that this is very close to what I'm like, although not quite sure about the 'no ordinary person' part! :)

Hello Bee,

Just today I received a message about my Grandparents marriage date, but I don't know his birthdate or anything else about him.

Marriages Sep 1910 - Tynemouth  10b 414
SMITH  Anthony
MELDRAM  Robina J

That is what I have so far. Obviously there is some mix up on my Grandmother's maiden name spelling, as i have already found her family on a Census but to me it looked like it was spelt Meldrum! My father's birthdate was August 28 1916, Tynemouth.

Appreciate anything that can give me a clue to how to find my Grandfather's details. As I'm living in Canada I don't know how to go about getting birth or marriage certificate copies.

Thanks Jane for the welcome. I've only been a part of this website for a couple of days and already I've had help from a couple of people which is great!

Also thanks to Russell for the tips on FTM, I will certainly try the suggestions and will hopefully have everything sorted out soon! :)

Northumberland / Another SMITH !!!

Can anyone help me find my Grandfather's details? His name was Anthony Smith and he lived in Howdon which is on North Tyneside, England. He was married to Rubina Meldrum and I've managed to find out quite a bit about her side of the family but with the Smith side I've reached a deadlock. Anthony and Rubina had eight children, one of which was my Father, Andrew Armstrong Smith. I don't know much more than that as I lost touch with my Father after my parents divorced and he died in 1987.

Thanks for any help.

Hi I'm a newcomer to this website and saw the discussion on Family Tree Maker. I have had this program for over a year and really like it, but I tend to go long periods without using it and usually by then I have lots of information to enter. Now I have found that I've duplicated some entries by mistake and when I try to delete them, I end up deleting the original entries too! Does anyone know how I can avoid this? I feel so stupid. I guess I should take more time to discover the full potential of the program!

I found this website via Googling one of the family names I'm researching and was amazed at just how big this website is! I've only been on a couple of times in the last few days but have already seen loads of information that I can use. I already subscribe to GeneReunited and have found that a very useful website too. The people on here seem very friendly and looks like I'm going to have fun and hopefully find even more members of my family tree.
