Westmeath / Re: ELIZABETH FARRELL

Thanks to all who helped me here.  I really appreciate the assistance because there are so many similar names in the Irish families. Most helpful was the marriage certificate, which shows that this Elizabeth Farrell was 27 in 1917, which would have made her 75 when she died in 1965, which sounds right.  I had not seen this certificate before.  It will be very helpful.  Again, many thanks.  I apologize if anyone thought it was a "wild goose chase."

Thank you.  I see by the marriage certificate that her father was John Farrell, apparently a farmer in Milltownpass.  Anyone have any info on him?  Yes, I have the right dates.  She was my mother-in-law.

Married William Hughes 2/12/1853 in Milltownpass R.C. church and thereafter lived in Rattin, Co. Westmeath, until her death on 8/23/1965.  Can't find out the names of her father/mother despite looking in all available resources.  Has anyone researched the Farrell family from Westmeath?

Very exciting to see the photographs, thank you for posting.  Particularly interested in seeing the memorial card for Elizabeth, my deceased husband's (Peter
Brendan) sister.  Would be interested in seeing Mary Anne's letter to Moira (my husband's other sister) or any other info you have.  So Mary Anne married a Scanlon!  Had no info on her so appreciate.  I have a ton of information about Rattin & the family home there if you are interested.  I tried to post a picture of the Hughes' tombstone, which shows Elizabeth, the parents, Bridgid, John (Sean) and William (son of William & Elizabeth) but to no avail.

Evidently the photo did not go through because it is too big and I have tried reducing it without success.

Was finally able to get back one generation from John Hughes & Mary Mitchell as follows:

John's father was William Hughes and his mother was Margaret Dardis (Ireland, Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915).

All I can tell you is that an Elizabeth Farrell (father John Farrell) of Milltown Pass married William Hughes in January 1917.

It seems we are researching the same John Hughes & Mary Mitchell.  I cannot on any site find either their birth or marriage certificates and I have come to a halt.  If you have had any success, would you let me know?  My research so far has yielded the following results:
1901 census says John Hughes was 47 y.o. (no birth available) with wife, Mary (formerly Mitchell), age 50, and five children, Mary, William, Bridget, Patrick and John (see below).
1911
Occupants in Rattin were John, 58  (died 1/19/1938) , and his wife, Mary, age 60 (died 7/12/1914).  They had four children:  Mary Anne (born 5/12/1881, baptized 5/14/1881), age 28, William (born 12/8/1883), age 26, Bridget 24 (born 4/18/1885; died June 15, 1961) and John (born 5/28/1888), age 22.
Patrick, who was 14 in 1901, does not appear in the 1911 census.

William was my husband's grandfather.  My husband's father was also named William but I cannot find a birth certificate.  In any event, this William married Elizabeth Farrell, age 27 on January 24, 1917 (her father’s name was John Farrell; she was born sometime between 1889-1890 and was listed as a housekeeper in the census on January 24, 1917.  She died 8/23/1965 of heart failure/endocarditis.
William and Elizabeth Hughes had 7 children (could not locate birth records):
John (Sean) possibly born 7/9/12; died 11/2/1992) ; William (Billy) (died 11/22/1992); Thomas; Kevin; Maura; Peter Brendan (born 1/20 or 1/25/1927; and Elizabeth (who died 5/18/1942 at age 13 of same condition as mother had.) (No recorded birth)

If you have any further info, I would appreciate it.  Very hard to trace back since it seems most of the Hughes were named John, William, Mary or Elizabeth.
