Family History Beginners Board / Re: SARAH ANN VINCENT (born abt. 1866 d.1929 Canada)
« on: Sunday 20 November 16 20:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Thank you for your help, Sandra and everyone else who assisted.
You have given me some information I didn’t have on the Canadian family.
I have been in contact with one family in Canada for the last two years.
I am trying to find out more about Sarah Ann Vincent (born approx.1866) our great grandmother
before she went to Canada. The Canadian family are interested to know where she grew up
and who her parents were.
I’m afraid I made a mistake in my recent post when I said my grandmother’s maiden name was Winifred Emily VINCENT– it was actually BOULDING.
Sarah Ann Vincent had four children before she married in 1895 to JOHN BOULDING.
Sarah and John’s four children were:-  Ida, Percy, Archibald and Winifred.
I have found some discrepancies with the family’s names and ages and I’m not sure whether it is deliberate or a genuine mistake. I still would like to know whether Sarah’s parents were Daniel and Susannah. On the marriage certificate of John and Sarah, Daniel was shown as the father of Sarah and was deceased. His occupation was that of a carpenter. Susannah’s name was not on the marriage certificate.
The census of 1891 and 1901 are the correct family.
That is all I have to go on.

Further to my recent post concerning the above, I would like to thank you all for your previous help.
However, I have been researching in my local library and have found that a SARAH ANN VINCENT was baptised on 26th July 1863. The information on ‘Ancestry’ stated that her father’s name was David which I now know had been transcribed incorrectly and which should read DANIEL which was stated on her marriage certificate. Her mother’s name was Susannah. Also Sarah’s date of birth, which I was using in my research, which I was previously led to believe was 1866.
I am guessing that this is the correct family unless I can obtain more information.
The Vincent family may be related to the family tree which is shown on the ‘Broadland Jermyn’s homepage’ website.
Sarah Vincent is my great grandmother who immigrated to Canada in 1911 with three siblings and left behind my grandmother, Winifred Emily Vincent who never spoke of her mother.
Any further feedback would be most welcome and appreciated.

Can anyone help please?
I am searching for SARAH ANN VINCENT's mother's christian name and maiden name. Also Sarah's birth certificate.
I have Sarah's marriage certificate (1895) which states that her father's name was DANIEL VINCENT,
a carpenter, deceased. Sarah married JOHN BOULDING (b.1834) whose father was also JOHN BOULDING (deceased on certificate).
In the 1901 England Census, John and Sarah's children were:-
Archie, Percy, Winifred and Ida Boulding.
Sarah Vincent, I believe had a brother William Vincent which is shown on the 1901 England Census.

Thanks to all who are replying. I really appreciate your help.
Yes she did use Marie as her first name.
I think you are all on the right track, but what was her mother's surname before George Bartlett Philpott married her?

Can anybody help please. After weeks of trying I have drawn a blank.
I am trying to trace the ancestors of my grandmother named above.
I know she came from Cuxhaven in Germany and she married William James Hemmings 1n 1900 at Aldershot. She was born in 1874 and died in Norwich in 1951. Her mother may have been Maria Bartlett and her father George Philpott.
That's all I have , I'm afraid.

Hi avm228,
Just picking up the search again. With reference to your post of 27th December 2013,
you said you had found a Hugh Hunter whose daughter was Mary Ann Hunter, who were of Irish ancestry. I have discovered a distant relative of mine who tells me there is Irish roots in my family!!
Could you please tell me how I go about discovering more information? I'm very new to this so any help would be most appreciated.
