Yes all baptisms of children and grandchildren wee in anglican church but that maybe because mother was protestant and engliss..william could still be catholic. Any idea of romany roots for him
Someone said his son william f appeared on 1881 tinsmiths census of england and they read this on romany gypsy connections website.
Im not so sure.
Just because you're a tinsmith doesnt mean your a romany

I hav them in 1851. Never found marriage details. Williams grandson was john richard ballard who died on somme winning military medal. He moved his family to wrexham  and he was a tinsmith. Hes on the roll of honour at liverpool town hall although he was in royal welsh fusiliers

Hi
My gr gr gr grandfather was william ballard who came to liverpool from ireland. He married jane dawson and  had son called william francis.they were tinsmiths and rumour has it they were romanys.only assuming william came from cork area. Ballard is english name and he may hav been of english descent. I did read that by 1802 one quarter of population of ireland had english and scottish ancestry.
Any help would be appreciated

Hello
My gr gr gr grandfather was william ballard born ireland circa 1816. Married to jane dawson from jersey. Hav heard talk that he was a romany. I think because he was a tinsmith. I would like to know more. Anyhow ballard is an english name and william prob descende fro english settlers in ireland from time of cromwell. I hav read that one quarter of population of ireland by 1802 was of english and Scottish blood. Just because he was a tinsmith surely doesnt mean he was a gypsy or romany????
